I don't have a midi keyboard and as far as I can tell you need one to get sound out of cubase.
You have been greatly mislead! You can put notes in with the mouse the same way as Fruity, it has a 'piano roll' that functions in exactly the same way (but better in my opinion).

Well, for audio files (wav) the Cubase playlist definitely lets you zoom in further and rearrange/slice much more accurately/easily
but we're talking about the piano roll...I'm not sure how much you'd wanna zoom in on a MIDI pattern? The main reason it's better is that the notes say what they are (eg C#), the quantize features are better, there's a chord/note thing that tells you what chord something is if you put the cursor on the chord, there's MUCH more advanced MIDI notation handling features, etc.

To edit CC messages accurately at the 1/128th triplet level?
Or doesn't anyone else do that?

Strange. I couldn't get a sound out of it. Maybe it was just my options.

most of the time with fills (& short vox) in FL im working at full zoom & really could do with better view just for accuracy & so i can 'see' it's in the right place, if that makes any sense.

In Cubase you just have a slider for each axis of the grid and you can zoom in or out at any increment you like (there is no set increments like in FL).

And you don't have to keep going up to the top of piano roll to switch tools just to erase one little note or draw one in. ****ing hated that in FL. The glide wedge tool was good though.
