quote: Why just for starters? Pros have been known to use FL and yeild pretty good results. It's the user not the DAW that ultimatly decides whether the outcoming track is of good quality. No such thing as beginner, intermidiate and advanced DAWs.
As I stated its a good choice for beginners wanting to learn, never stated it just for beginners ...sure plenty of professionals use it....
This man speaks the truth. I've been using FL Studio for a while now and when I tried Cubase and Ableton, I hated them for some reason. No matter what I try, I always come back to good old FL
And yes, FL Studio does allow you to save your work, in a range of formats.

tons of free ones out there..
A good drum machine for you daw would be:
Native Instruments Battery.
You will need good computer with at least a intel dual core 2.0 ghz + processor and 2 + gigs of ram....a good sound card (not a soundblaster but a production one) and a decent set of studio monitors..and 1 or 2 20+ inch monitors
thats what I use anyway....just depends on what you want to use....others opinions will differ...hope that helps..
you make it sounds like fruityloops sucks =p i often make better things out of FL (and many with me) then some guys can out of any other names u named there :)
its basicly what works the best for a person.. if ya start wif for example cubase and learn that you can produce wif that.. if ya start wif FL .. prolly FL be better for ya.. asfor maself i started wif modplug and still work wif it on some tracks! its a brilliant program but noone uses it cuz its 'just a tracker program'...
in short... @ caller.. any of these names is good.. no diffrence... the only one who can make it sounds proper is you and not a program

Fair enough, but people will learn on anything. I personally learned a hell of a lot more when i switched from FL to Cubase. As i said, persoanl preference and how you work.

This place is full of helpful people mate, don't worry. If you have any more questions feel free to post away someone should always get back to you.
Also i'll ignore everything said about Vengeance and Nexus as this isn't the time or place to be haviong debates about satan's favourite production tools. All i will say is, just because everyone else uses them doesn't mean you have to, but that's entirely personal choice of course.
Hhhhhaaanyway, good luck mate. I know it all seems baffling and you feel out of your depth, but everyone does at first. But with dedication and hard work (or a Nexus preset if you're not a fan of hard work :P) you'll get the hang of it and be producing in no time.

Random free samples that i layer together to make my own mainly, K-Complex samples which i posted on here a while back are ****ing great, i use them somethimes. Few real drums samples too. Also make a few of my own with synths. Who knows maybe one day i'll be at Orbit1's level.
Try it sometime... Vengeance Club Sounds and Nexus aren't everything, you know? ;)
Oh and on the topic of Vengeance, they're releasing some plug-ins soon. No doubt there won't be a single Hardcore producers computer out there without em *rolls eyes*

I know there are others ^^ I don't have Nexus actually, costs more than FL Studio, lol, and I've had expenses at about £2000 this month, so meh :p I do use Vengeance, but I'm open for others. I layer Vengeance drums though, but I guess it's still Vengeance :p I also layer Sytrus and 3x osc ;)
I'm open for other samples, if you have any or know where I can get em, fire me over a pm, please :) I can give you the last £13 I have, if you want :p
Also, I haven't heard any of your tracks, fancy giving me a private show? ;)

imho fruity is definitely the best value for someone just starting out, a one off payment & you get free updates for life, unlike all the other daws where you pay over & over again if you want the newest version
fruity can do everything the other daws can do & the sound engine is no different.
die hard fans of cubase will disagree, but hey if they enjoy shelling out more money every time steinberg make a new version let them carry on

I think it's all down to the GUI. As far as I can tell it gets a bad rap because people see it in a "paint by numbers" light. Personally I use it in a different way so my projects don't look too different from a cubase project.

I'm not gonna sell you samples mate lol. Look at my earlier post: "?intitle:index.of? wav bass" Type in google and replace "bass" with whatever samples you want. Hey presto, samples galore.
Private show? You make it sound so seedy lol. I've never finished a track i've gotten about half way at most. I then spend ages trying to improve the production quality. Been producing 5 months or so now, i'm getting there but i'm not at a level where i'm ready to unleash my tunes on the general public.

Nexus like you said requires no skill. Many of the things people use it for IE basses and Leads are a piece of piss to put together in a synth. Just lazyness IMO.
Vengeance is a bit different. It's much more difficult to put together some massive kicks and snares, so i can understand people opting to use them. It's just the fact that everyone uses them and it's just so blatant. Makes every track sound so generic and samey.
However these are just my personal opinions, there's no right or wrong way of going about things and i'm not trying to judge anyone for how they make their music - it's not my place. I will however always give my two cents, just cos i'm a grumpy, old, whinging bastard :D
