metallica, linkin park (reanimation > Hybrid theory >>> everything else), Iron Maiden, Dream Theatre - there are a few out there.
The joke about Pendulum is that Pendulum did not really produce DnB since their first album, and specimen claimed them as dnb artists.

indeed matt, though its still drum n bass, i mean just because its commerical to **** and back doesnt stop it being drum n bass...fair enough its not "true" or "proper" or whatever
essentially thats straight back to Smoogies "todays hardcore isnt real hardcore" argument :P
liley, im not really into any of those bands you just mentioned ;)
(I do listen to a fair amount of drum n bass also, as much/perhaps more than i do hardcore)

I had never even heard of pendulum until hellnagitive sent that song Set Me on Fire. Then I went to wiki and it said drum and bass, so I wrote drum and bass. If it's wrong then go fix it.
I don't listen to DnB OR pop music, how the hell am I supposed to know?

Well technically they are a D&B act, so for once Wiki can be trusted, but anybody who listens to D&B likes to play them off as a Rock/Pop band. It's a kind of "in" joke thing.

Quoted for truth. However, i was pretty disappointed with m2m. that was the worst album so far for me. Their next one (supposed to be released this year?) is apparently meant to go back to the old rap/rock forumula, which is what i think they're REALLY good at. But they are all amazing musicians.
As far as the pendulum thing goes, i quite like pendulum... before the second album. It's pretty watered down dum and bass from what i've heard but tbh im not so into the darker underground drum and bass. Not am i into vocal-based drum and bass. Good on them for not just being another underground artists. I don't think they have a problem with sales at all, so im sure they arent going to lose sleep over people not liking them.
Either way, it's still drum and bass. Period. (i loved the first album and am not referring to any others btw :P)

I listen to alot of drum n bass, I dont "Play them off as a rock/pop" group...fair enough they're 'commercial'.. but every style has its commercial side!
im sure the rock elitests who consider it "cool" to like pendulum, but flat out refuse to listen to other dance music are happy that the drum n bass elite dont want them ;)

even though Darren Styles is Hardcore, most people on this site wouldn't say he is. I can see where the DnB heads are coming from when they don't call Pendulum DnB.
but at the end of the day Darren Styles is "Hardcore" and Pendulum are "Drum & Bass"
