Um... "No 1" is a remix of Alicia Key's insanely popular song "No One."
I know already :) I think he made perfect use of the melody too, the way he turned it into a most uplifting piece of happiness is great. Use of pop melodies in HHC goes way back, like DJ Vibes - Techno Wonderland using the melody of Elvis - Can't Help Falling In Love.
Yeah, totally. That's why I don't hate pop-core so much. In fact pop-core is catchy and shit and gets a lot of people moving, which is why I enjoy Clubland. At the same time, it should stay on Clubland and not infiltrate Bonkers, although I'm sure it somehow will.
I totally agree with this, although the way I see it, Happy Hardcore in its entirety has always been the pop-core of all the different Hardcore styles. Let it be remixes of actual pop songs or just sugary pop-ish melodies like most anthems out there, it's the pop of the Hardcore family because it's the most 'easy-listening' music of them all. Most people fall in love with Happy Hardcore really fast and then get tired of it very quickly, unlike other genres like electro or progressive house where the taste takes much longer to develop.
I think it would really suck if all the uplifting cheesiness represented by the big RBC names that everybody and their mom are slating in this thread would listen to the whiners around here, quit Hardcore and leave us with only freeformish, more-hardcore-than-thou producers. But you know what, it won't happen because the simple cheese will always be more popular than the more intricate and less catchy hardcore.

if this is true then it's a shame to lose the exclusively "bonkers" series

I loved Bonkers 13! One of Dougal's best mixes!
