I would have liked the series to continue the way it has done. Having the different themed covers and calling it Bonkers 18 but I guess AATW are the new owners for the album so they can do what they want.
As for Hixxy being asked to do a classic mix. Surely he himself can have input and decide what sort of mix he wants to do. I don't see why he couldn't have done a mix with new and forthcoming tunes. I know there's the HTID vol 2 and Xtreme Hardcore 6 albums that Hixxy will feature on but I would have thought a mix for Bonkers would have been the priority as it's the biggest and most well known hardcore album series.

he doesnt actually say its a "classics" mix as such...
at 04:20secs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3d6w5hKCns&feature=channel_page the video was recorded on Saturday 28th March 2009 as it says "Ravers Reunited TV catches up with the B.O.S.S. Of Hardcore, the legend that is Hixxy, at event 11" "myself havin a mix of sorta older stuff they've asked me to do, like 2000 upwards, chris unknown's doing brand new stuff and obviously sharkey's doin brand new stuff, then we got hardcore til i die album...volume 2..ish..of the new series, if that makes sense..thats going to be august..recon and squad-e again they've asked me to do a cd on that..but im not 100% sure on that, im a bit..i dunno yet...and then clubland as usual at the end of the year" so yeah just "older" stuff, doesnt have to be "classics" if you can call much music between 2000 and now classic..

mmm, just saying though, even though he's doing stuff from 2000+ that doesnt have to mean its just going to be "classics"...plenty of other stuff that he could be playing even if its just RB/JB stuff that didnt make it as huge as "you're shining"

What is wrong with AATW? Isn't this the same lable that released an actual Rankin track? If so, this lable is just full of being totally disrespectful to fans of hardcore. So once they start Bonkers over, there will be two different versions of Bonkers volume 2, volume 3, etc. Why start over and change the style of the covers? There is no reason to do so except for personal interests of AATW. I can't imagine they pressure they might be putting on the artists to pick tracks that will make the album sell more if they are already going to these lengths. I'm surprised they are even using the name "BONKERS" being that they want to change everything about it. They just know that will get them the original BONKERS fans to buy the album. Who knows how the music will be. Maybe the music will be good and it will be a great album, but it is obvious that AATW doesn't mind pissing all over tradition for no real apparent reason. I would like them to explain their reasoning on why they are restarting the series and also changing the style. I'm sure it's just $$$.

I don't see why Bonkers has to start over when certain series like Tunnel Trance Force has made it to around 50....and Super Eurobeat is in the 100s. Can anybody recall any other music series that were restarted?? Maybe there are some, but I can't personally think of any?????

Hardcore Heaven, it had gotten to volume 5 in 1999, then was restarted when they started making new ones, then was restarted again when it was bought out by Resist (react)
Hardcore Til I Die also, when that was bought out by AATW
the reason they do it is because the company usually feels they can breathe new life into it.
