u call it happy hardcore, im not arsed, totallt different country, totally different views.
and yes i am embarassed to use the word happy hardcore in this country coz u would get laffed at & told the happy hardcore died years ago quote. hehee
So no die hard hardcore fan in the uk calls it happy hardcore anymore.
and YES, we have moved on so whats immature bout that?
for the record im not even into uk hardcore anymore really. concentratin on the gabber side of things.
BY THE WAY............
Its time once again for another couple of mad Vibealite parties.......
I'll tell ya summat, me & the lads cant wait, will you lot be there???
Another year older and what a year it has been.
Still there's life in the old dog yet!
For the past 18 months our scene has been bubbling with
djs, producers and promoters working closely hand in hand.
Well the hard work is finally paying off as more & more
venues open their doors to the sound of hardcore, but let
us not forget the ones who have supported our scene too. With this in
mind Vibealite has decided to hold 2 parties to celebrate our 9th birthday.
Part 1 is a joint event with North at the superclub that plays host to "Passion"
and "Storm" a new club for hardcore with huge capacity and all the trimmings of a
super club. Part 2 is at an all time favourite Vibealite venue, The Street in
Skegness which also has a huge capacity. So many of you have been requesting
us to return to The Street we could'nt put it off any longer. So all that is left to
do is come and burst the bubble and watch the hardcore
scene explode again.
As more hardcore albums are being released Vibealite has teamed up
with two of the UK's leading hardcore artists. On October the 4th
we celebrate the launch of Scott Browns album and on the 26th
we celebrate the launch of the long awaited dj Brisk album
both albums will be for sale on the nights mentioned
and are available in all good record shops.
HARDCORE IS BACK!
So lets all celebrate it at these Vibealite parties.

making me feel like a bit of a twat now with some of these comments :/
I started dj'ing, and my stuff most certainly is happy hardcore - together forever, rainbow island, devotion, etc etc.
I'm not actually that much into 'hardcore' sure I'd dance to it in a rave or whatever but.. well seems I'm just a guy stuck in the past, who was too young and thus missed the time when hardcore was 'in'.. nevermind eh? :)

it's just a name. i'm pretty sure the 'happy hardcore' you're talking about is the same music as the 'hardcore' everyone else here is talking about.

Round here most people wouldn't know Hardcore still exsisted. You mention the name and they think of the old happy hard tunes like Forever Young, Discoland, Children Of The Night etc. It's something a lot of people see as childrens music as most people I know used to listen to it when they were about 13 (me included).

i will always ALWAYS call it happy hardcore!!
after all...it makes me happy doesnt it?????
an it makes me bounce...
an bounce an bounce an bounce and smile and bounce and smile.....
ooops....me caught the hardcore bug :P
"If happy hardcore didnt exist....what would i do, Id frown my face and turn so blue.
I wouldn't be able to bounce and couldn't smile, the hours of rave are so worthwhile!
There would be no melodies......nothing would make me smile,
living without happy hardcore....is living a lie.
So whatever u may call it.....call it happy,
call it hardcore.....just NOT crappy!!"
sorry :P ive a habit of doing that :)

I have to say, most people I know who know Hardcore call it just Hardcore or UK Hardcore. Started off cause noone could be arsed to say Happy then as the music progressed it kinda lost the tag Happy.
Sure there's still plenty of 'happy' Hardcore about but its not Happy Hardcore if you get me :)

i live in the north east, and most people here are into makina (spanish techno) now. so anything that isnt makina gets called happy hardcore. if u call sumthin hardcore, people think of stuff like speedcore, proper head banging 200bpm stuff.

There as I can see 2 main problems with calling it 'Happy' Hardcore.
The scene has divided into may genres of which 'Happy' hardcore is one. Others include Freeform or new style gabba etc. These to me are all sub genres under the main banner of 'Hardcore Music'.
But the main problem with Happy Hardcore is the stigma attached to its name which can never be shaken off. Mention Happy Hardcore to anyone whos no longer involved in the scene and they mention 'Kiddy Music' or joke at the types of tunes that got releaced. And to a degree they have a point, Hardcore almost killed itself with half arsed ripoffs and extra slices of chedda to even make a cheeser like myself cringe. The word 'Happy' hardcore I believe can never recover from this. But maybe I'm wrong?

OK, first off nu-style isn't an offshoot of happy hardcore; it's an evolution of Dutch gabber, which has been around for a fair while.
Secondly, the 'hardcore' scene hasn't been unified for some time now. The HHC, terror, gabber (both Euro-style and US-style), speedcore, etc all went down their separate paths a long time ago. The day has passed when these styles of music could be considered to be just 'subgenres' of one parent genre (if it every existed, that is).
If anything, what you just said is a justification for using the "Happy" tag to differentiate between it and the other genres, which all have an equal claim to the "Hardcore" name. For instance, here in Sydney calling a party "Hardcore" would mean that it would have a high proportion of gabber DJ's playing. We *need* an identifier. The question then is whether to use "Happy" or "UK" Hardcore.

I think you *are* wrong. Quite frankly, if people are gonna judge a style of music by how it *used* to sound like, or by how its name sounds, then you can't really take any assessment of music from them all that seriously, can you?
Any moron with more musical sense than a tone-deaf aardvark would realise that HHC/UKHC/whatever has progressed since the "bad" old days and that the quality of the music in terms of production and complexity is now on par with what the mainstream finds acceptable in clubs and whatnot, like trance and house.
The music hasn't changed that much in the past two years that we *have* to change the name, so it's a matter of preference. I have no problem calling it Happy Hardcore, and if someone else can't look past whatever misconceptions they have over the "Happy" name then really, what does that say about their capacity for musical appreciation?
Then again, if you lot wanna call it UK Hardcore, or Poofy Pomcore, or whatever, then it's up to you. It's no skin off my back, really. Just don't look down on anyone else for calling it something different.

I know, what I was trying to say was that 'Happy' hardcore is a type of Hardcore in the same way new style. I consider these names sub genres under a title of Hardcore because its a particular type of that sound. I would'nt called Sharkeys Bonkers Cd 'Happy Hardcore' would you?
Maybe things are different in Canada (I don't know how long the scene has been over there) but the word 'happy' hardcore is used by some people no longer in the know to ridicule the sound as it brings brings up memories or crappy rip-off tunes that sound more like nursery rhymes. Now this tag I feel doe'nt do justice to some of the banging tunes being produced so I feel a fresh look is needed.
