I also have a pair of Alesis M1 active MKII, and they aint bad. The only problem is there isn't much bass. They sound fine down to about 100hz, so you here all of ya mix fine down to the kick drum, but no real bass.
They do play down to 50hz, but thats quite a few db's lower than the mid bass.
I like the sound of them anyway, and I think Iv'e got to know them quite well. And my mixes play back good on other systems.
When I have the cash im gonna get a sub anyway, so it won't matter how much bass they have, cos' they'll be getting a hi pass signal.

I dunno, but I think that most monitors arent designed to have that much bass, otherwise you dont get an accurate signal, thus defying the point of monitors.
If you want a fully sick system with lots of bass, build a car stereo. Silver knows all about thoses mr "200BPM".

I have a phat car stereo, 2 12" JBL subs.
The kind of sound I want from my monitors is Flat, but I just like to hear that bass tone. Kinda like when litening to ur normal home stereo, but more mid and better quality.

Computer music did some reviews back in august, and they didn't rate them high, they gave them 5 out of 10.
They say the best for that price range (around £300) are Event TR5. 9 out of 10.

They're only a 6.5". Just remember the smaller the woofer the less bass response you get. Even with my Behringer Truths which are 8", I still don't get enough low end bass response(ie. under 100hz). Ideally you need to pair all monitors with a sub to get an accurate idea of what's going on in the far low end (between 25 - 80hz). Studio monitors (especially the 6.5" ones) just can't reproduce those frequencies well enough.
