Right now I'm using a PCV-175 but I'm looking to upgrade to something else. What I'm wondering is if I should go with a large club style mixer with the fader you can set the curve on or maybe go with a slightly cheaper but more built for scratch mixer seeing as how I like to scratch.
Silver, if possible I'd like you're opinion on this since you do a show about once a week and I remember you saying in one of them that it was the first time you did scratching in a show.
Thanks a bunch.

Dont buy a Numark SM3, I have one of those, and while the sound quality is nice, the crossfader sucks!

buy a tascam xs-8. i bought one for $150 from guitar center, most places have them for like $300. has a lot of options for turntablist, only downside I have is it doesn't fit in most coffins.

Vestax is Ferrari of mixers... they have adjustable crossfaders on the higher models but I really dont need it myself.

How is Behringer for mixers? They look quality, but looks are looks. I am looking at a Behringer VMX100 or VMX200

We have a Behringer 700 at the shop I work at. All I can say is that I think it's absolute shit. It's about a year old and so far, each channel shorts out if the fader is up all the way, there's no sound in the left speaker, the kill switches are terrible (since they are buttons and not actual switches there is a bit of a delay on them), the effects do nothing but distort the hell out of the track, and yesterday when I was playing on it and it sounded like the crossfader was starting to bleed a little. So yeah, that's my experiance w/ behringer. You might wanna look into getting something else.
Right now I'm using the vestax 275 and have been nothing but happy w/ it. I don't know if you have the newer version of the 175 or not, but the newer vestax mixers have improved crossfaders (excellent for scratching) and channel faders.

I used a Behringer mixer twice in clubs and I thought they sucked ass as well, you see the word Behringer and you think oooo Germany engineering - can't go wrong here... but unfortcantly that is not the case... Avoid Behringer mixers.

i bought a berhinger dj400, and it was crap. i plugged it in put on ruff muff on deck one, scratch record on deck two. fired up the track and once the body of the track came in started a healthy flare and transformer attack and the crossfader went out instantly. then channel two shorted out. had it only a couple of hours before it went totally tits. i use a stanton rm3s and it's pretty good. got a good deal since it's discontinued. you can still get faders for it though which is good.

if your willing to shell out the bucks and get a pioneer, buy the 600 not the 500. the 500's fader sucks for scratching.

I recently acquired the Vestax PCV 275 which i think is brilliant. But however if your willing to splash out get the Pioneer DJM 600 it's the daddy.

If you are looking for a very quality mixer check out the new RANE TTM. It has non-contact faders (they work on magnets) which means they will never **** up. Although they are very expensive and only 2 channels you should take a look.

DJM 500/600 for me. I dont like the new 3000 though, I dont know why. I think its the shape and layout. Anyway, DJM's are quite pricy and there is a behringer mixer which is almost identical to a DJM 500 for much cheaper.
