might be worth spending a bit more money and going for a direct drive set up rather than a belt drive. I didn't, and have been kicking myself ever since!

whats the difference with direct drive, 200 is my budget so i cant really spend that much more, so i thought that this would be a good deal, its just for personal use you see.

If you are trying to learn how to mix, go with direct drive decks. If you can not afford them right now, save until you can.
Belt drive decks have a platter which is driven by **ahem** a belt. This amounts to very little torque, which makes stopping and releasing a record with your hand very tricky indeed.

let's put it this way.

there's technics at the top, followed by vestax, then gemini/numark, then the rest. kam is somewhere near the bottom of the rest. i got a pair to sell in the attic and i've never come across a deck where there's so much movement in the platter.

i'd stay away from kam to be honest. ideally you want technics but if ya can't afford then at least get gemini PT direct drive series.

I'd go for it if you really want the decks ASAP, I mean, gemini is def. better than Kam. As for the save up for technics, yeah, if you really think you can, wait and buy techs... but with your budget techs don't look too realistic right now (no offense.) Geminis should give you little to no trouble in the immediate future, and that mixer is okay for the price you're getting it at.

All I know is that to me, you look like you're lots of fun, open up your loving arms - watch out here I come!

Funnily enough, I don't agree with any of you about starting with better decks. I started with a pair of belt-drives many years ago and learned how to mix the hard way! Once i got my direct drives i turned into the best DJ ever! (well, better at least)

I do advise you get direct drives but if you really want your own decks and can't wait, it won't kill you to get belt drives first.

There's some decent packages on www.htfr.com if you haven't looked there already.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you
