Darren Styles, Dougal & Gammer - Stay Young

Together We Rise
26.01.2015

# Just how good is this? Really ****ing good! Probably won't be to everyone's taste, but it's a 10/10 for me.

I do like the track, but I'm not too keen on the vocal.

I rarely get completely negative, but that drop is an embarrassment.

Enjoyed it up until then. I'm actually coming to terms with the newer style of productions (the slappy weak kicks and crude robo-chords) but I'll never understand those lifeless drops. Fortunately they're really not too common anymore, and everything's all super uplifting and positive - which is great.

Wonder why they didn't use their United In Dance alias?

Christ the vocal sounds like ant and decs byker grove (which was terrible) It was a tacky grange hill rip off in the early nineties and the vocal could have been lifted right off the theme song. (I am talking uk childrens tv btw). absolutely horrendous.

Probably because most of the people who follow them these days don't know the the hell makes up United In Dance? That's my best guess.

And forgot to mention that those vocals sound very familiar. Anyone know if they were taken from something more mainstream?

I'm with d2kx on this one. Amazing tune, love the drop. Try listening to this one full blast in the car or at a rave, it may change your opinion of it. Really looking forward to the release.

Not sure about the lyrics but I think they were probably recorded by either styles or Dougal, I know for a fact that it's Dougals vocal 'We'll Stay Young!' Just before the drop.

Have to agree with you on the drop it is rather disappointing considering the lead up to it was good. It reminds me of how we all were disappointed with the drop from Fracus & Darwin's Landing. Yeesh!!!

I wasn't too keen on that mess that started at 37 seconds. It sounded ok eventually, but the way it started did not sync well with the current beat in my opinion. I'm fine with the monotone vocals, but I don't know maybe a little less robotic would have been better.

It's nice.

But I don't think I'll buy it.

It's half decent. Won't be buying it though.

The terrible drop is redeemed by the riff coming back in. Hopefully, once the backlog of unreleased stuff in this style is cleared there'll be some better new stuff.

That Darren Styles mix is a bit frustrating. Was a perfectly enjoyable listening experience, don't get me wrong. But some of those tunes man - some of those tunes could be phenomenal. The ideas and components are there. It's just the watered down "core", dare I say it, that lacks that Hardcore-oomph in a lot of the tracks. Just need fuller kicks and a bit more bass.

Yeah, that's just it isn't it mate. I think things are changing a little, and stuff is generally much more uplifting and positive at the moment, tune-wise.

Look at what's on the radio at the minute, far less shitty drops and more riff based tracks. That (and a growing group of hardcore producers who want a return to the more uplifting style) means it should be coming our way in the near future.

As much as I hate to use mainstream dance as an example, I have to because Hardcore has been pathetically following it with tongue firmly stuck up it's arse for years.

This. Can't see what's so bad about that drop, I think it's great - especially on a good sound system.

was expecting a terrible drop after the comments but it wasnt half bad. the only thing I have to say is that the kick and bass sound the same as all of gammers recent tracks. even if its super punchy, its really annoying to hear it all the time
