Aye. My HTPC is always sat under my TV in a compact box, has a tuner card and we watch, record and pause live TV via the Media Center, pretty much everything happens in MC so it never feels like I'm using a PC, it has a Blu Ray drive for Blu Ray play back, I can browse the Internet whilst watching TV, stream Internet TV. I can play PC games (and enjoy steams vast list of games) on my TV, using a controller and they look like they are intended to, not blurry and lard smeared. Best bit is, I've had it for years

Also, I must add, that this isn't an elitist thing, anyone can do this, anyone can set up a HTPC and use it as a media centre and I can't encourage people enough to give it a go and leave consoles behind them :)

i do that with mine it's a lot easier to play music and go online and now i have 2 1tb hdd's i can watch a ton of movies

I dont mind that the console can do other things aswell. I even use the bluray movie player on PS3 than I game nowadays :P
But yea, if it's a thing that plays games, it should gear more towards that, or it will end up like Phillips CD-i. Dead. I don't know if Sony noticed this, but they changed their waypoints with PS3 before they released it.
And I haven't checked it properly, but how did Sony manage not to include the same DRM like MS? Does this mean that MS added the always online DRM by itself, and not pressure from publishers?

Everyone of Microsoft's latest strategies seem geared around selling you content.
I have fears that the Windows 8 app store will become a universal Microsoft store for apps and games on both systems, I really hope I'm wrong as unified Xbox and PC gaming prices would be terrible news for PC gamers. I just hope Valve keep pushing Linux, the gaming community needs to be free from Direct X and Microsoft.

Only decent consoles what came out were before the 21st century.
Sega Megadrive and the Playstation 1 were epic consoles.
