I loathe the original and would actually say for me, it's one of the worst hardcore tunes of all time. Jut makes me cringe everytime I hear it. Whilst I like DnB, and the odd bit of dubstep, drumstep to me just sounds awful and doesn't quite know what's it's trying to be.
Given all this, you can safely assume that I think this is the worst thing i've heard in some time. Seems a pointless remix, no Drumstep fan will give this the time of day, and I can't imagine it going down well with the fluffy trance hardcore people.

No music scene is more open-minded for alternative than other scenes. Only individual members are. Also, PLUR never was indicated in practice in larger amounts than in non-PLUR scenes.
This sounds quite interesting. Modern dubby/steppy styles can sound pretty cool if you give them a chance. But regarding my pickiness, this one isnt something I'd individually put on my MP3 player :P

It was a big no, no in my book, as soon as the 'tune' (if you can call it that?) came in after the vocals...My ears started bleeding and I got an instant headache.
The vocals were alright though...Now if only someone would do a hardcore remix...

Ahh these hardcore producers going into making dubstep need to understand that dubstep is 140 bpm, any faster and it tends to sound silly. I feel this track would be a monster if it were actually at the right bpm!

Decent elements, some nice stutter work, some not so nice.
As Dubstep its Okay, but I envision a dubstep remix with a little more melodic influence. DS remix of Cinema was a good example of melodic style dubstep worked and arranged quite well.

Well done to the people on this topic who actually read the title. It is Drumstep not Hardcore or Dubstep, been reading comments over the web like "can not believe this is the way hardcore is going" or "this is the worst hardcore track."
Its a wicked remix & if any of the you have heard or see Modulate live he don't just play hardcore & his sets work on the dancefloor. This will fit in his sets perfectly, can't wait to hear it dropped in a club!!

Alright so it applies a little less to this track in particular, and I have to say this sounds much better than some of the other stuff going round. Besides, I always saw Drumstep as having a different drum pattern to dubstep, but I havn't listened to much of it so I'm more than likely wrong! :P

That analogy is no good. This is a remix, by a different artist; the song is essentially different from the original.
Maybe some drumstep fans would skip over this track simply from seeing Styles' name on it, but that is idiotic and not how anyone ever discovers new music. People who are interested in the possibility of hearing something they might like, and who understand the concept of a remix would give it a listen.
I'm gonna run this by all my friends who are drumstep fans. I'm pretty sure many of them will enjoy this track at least to some degree. And add me to the list, because as a drumstep fan, I dig this remix.

I think the big difference here is Rest of World vs. UK
Electronic music has been massive in the UK for years; Drumstep fans here HATE hardcore as do Dubstep/Drum n Bass etc. Obviously this doesn't apply in all cases, but if you live in the UK you'll understand it. It's not something you can throw logic and statistics at - it's purely cultural.
In the US and outside of the UK, electronic music is less common; so there is a much larger tendency to be open minded. UK DJs will tell you that you can be more flexible in the US because they're more open. Most US raves aren't even 1 genre, but many genres spread over the course of the night.
I can't speak for US drumstep fans, but the UK drumstep fans will be of a similar ilk to the Drum n Bass/Dubstep crowd - they like dark and heavy and serious, not floaty pop vocals from hardcore (which has been considered cheesy in the UK since 1996).
Anyway, I only posted here because I thought it was funny this is now the 'drumstep remix'. I remember this was called "hardcore" when the first very early snippet came out; I guess the shitstorm made them rethink their genre labels a bit more =P

I don't think electronic music is less common outside the UK. Just look at the Netherlands, they have festivals way bigger than anything we have here. Also Germany used to have the love parade in Berlin which attracted close to a million.
I just got back from a trip to the US and electronic music seems to be more popular there than the UK too. All the R n B is sounding a lot more like dance music thanks to guys like Pitbull and David Guetta etc Especially in Miami and LA. While in the UK it seems to have gone quiter if anything. There are way fewer decent large scale dance events nowdays compared to 8 years ago. Almost seems to be an new thing there lol
