And Blackcrow I'm sorry but I don't understand some of your rants. I didn't really love what I was doing, but I can say that I was good at it. I can assure you that I didn't like it, but that was mainly because of the location of the store.
It's commission sales. Although there are rules to adhere to, the majority of my income is dictated by me. I push myself to make sure I get that commission. Just this past Saturday I worked for 8 hours, did almost $4000 in sales while everyone else did only half or less than half of that :)
Although that seems like a lot, trust me it's nothing compared to the location of a store that is in a busier area. That's the reason why I didn't really like that job all that much, because they had the cheapest, shittiest customers at my location and the ones with real money go to the busier locations, even if my store was closer to them. Tried to transfer for a long time but with no success.
And to be honest I know that I'm not completely innocent in this and I take responsibility for that. We all knew that it was not a company policy, but we did it anyway. Mainly because after 2 years no one said anything to us. So we assumed as long as we were bringing in the department the numbers it needed they were ok with it.
The only way to escape someone's "authority" is to have your own business Blackcrow. Otherwise you will always be at the mercy of a big corporation. But who the hell in their right mind starts their own company with no disposable income and bad credit? lol

If you were never warned nor told not to verbally or in writing you can sue the store out of the own ass. I've never actually been inside a Macy's more then once or twice exactly because of the prices. But, I didn't even realize they had sales people in the terms of actual commission. I am considered a "sales associate" at my work, but I don't actually act like a sales men. I get paid hourly, not on commission.
The store will come crawling back when they realize they aren't getting their figures anymore. The only bad thing is this is on your record now, and without explanation it just looks bad overall from a glance. Hopefully you'll find another place, I know I've been searching for months with absolutely no luck. Everyone else I dislike are finding jobs left and right (from my work), and I can't get into anywhere. And, not trying to sound arrogant, but I am the best worker there besides one of the managers. One guy found a better paying job even though he requests time off at least three times a month. I hope you have better luck then me getting a new one!
I've only been fired once and that was at a grocery chain store, was a stocker. I didn't show up to work one night due to having to go to a funeral, and they levered that against me to get me fired. Let's just say my manager and I butted heads a lot. I ultimately got a better paying job afterwards, but not by much.
