Use a preset and tweak it until you get the hang of each VST. Depends what sound you are going for though.

Most muddyness comes from percussion though, not bass.

To much FX on percussion is the reason for muddy sounding tracks.

I dont use much percussion. Unless hats are classed as perc. Infact i dont use much fx. I only eq the hast to roll the bottoms off the hats with no fx. I might add reverb to bass and secondary kick. I made a drum track a few months back with bass and exported it as a loop but didnt save the proj file and it turned out really good ill upload in a min. Was testing layering at the time and have a few

LOl @ Copywriting anything in Hardcore mate. I wouldnt add too many FX to kickdrums, unless you are going for a particular sound.

Also, everyone has their own workflow.

I always start with my kick and bass first then build the track around that. Makes sense doing it that way as they are the foundation of the track.

Too much reverb on a kick causes terrible muddyness. Try making really subtle changes to the kick. Kicks are better clipped and clean for modern UK hardcore. For anything at a slower tempo, you have more room to experiment.

No point copywriting a kick at all mate. Thats like trying to copywrite your turd and saying noone can use it.

Chances of winning in a case for someone using a drum sample or sound effect are almost impossible.

Its hardcore, a genre that is the pure essence of stealing someone elses shit and playing it at a faster tempo!!

Nothing in dance music is original.
