lol I can understand that woman's reaction actually. If you can't play music loud in the summer daytime when are you supposed to play it loud?

Fcuking hell, the state of her. Unbelievable.

Life's so shit isn't it. In the grand scheme of things, is it much to ask to be able to listen to some of your favourite tunes in the garden on a nice day? But no, you can't - because it pisses people off, which is understandable - of course they'd be pissed off. I'd be pissed off. What can you do? Absolutely nothing. Such a depressing thought - can't even listen to music loudly. Unbelievable.

Even when life is good, it's fcuking terrible. Unless you're super-rich, it's pointless. I'll have a wealth assessment at 40, and then I may or may not end it all there.

It's because Brits have always been a bit conservative like that, someone talks loudly in the street and many will look as if to say "Why are they being so noisy?" someone dresses differently: "what do they think they're trying to prove?" I'm sure everyone on this forum is fine but a large majority of the public can't just accept that
some people are loud, or different or just don't care how they look. In Brighton you'd be shocked how many are against the pride parade - not because they're against gay people but because it's a noisy street parade and "Why can't they just be quiet about it?". No wonder protests don't change anything here, we're reluctant to acknowledge anything that disturbs our sad unfulfilling routines.

And the funny thing is that NOBODY will confront you about being loud on their own, I can have my music blaring out of my headphones at a bus stop and there will always be someone who looks at me as if to say "I can hear that and I don't like it, hopefully this glare will help you understand that this slight disturbance in my day is not cool and you should turn it down." NOPE. I just crank it up even louder, if I'm bothering you, then tell me - because that way I know you're seriously disturbed by my music and not just trying to ruin my fun with your old fashioned ideals of society and passive aggressive behaviour.

I've got no time for people like that, this is my life and as long as I'm not hurting anyone I deserve to be as loud or as weird as I want. I'm not into all this 'keep your head down and be quiet' mentality, it's the same as "keep your opinions to yourself" why? Why should we? It defines who we are and it's a large part of self expression, just like making music or wearing your favorite clothes.

Back to the noise issue, my friends in Cali are always throwing mini raves while they make kandy in their garden and none of their neighbours complain. As long as it's not really late at night and disturbing people who have to work then there's no problem IMO.

It's like that in most places in the U.S I believe because in my state you just can't play music extremely loud or on a big system in your house after 10 p.m. Then again that's only if your neighbors can hear it.

Yeah, our streets are much smaller and stuff, all our houses are much closer together than in America. I have to say though, living in a chavvy area has it's advantages. If the neighbours are playing loud music then it's fair game if you just play yours louder, also even the police are a bit cautious to venture into the area so they'll only go in if there's been a serious crime, and even then it'd take hours.

For you fellow americans who can't access the vid http://www.putlocker.com/file/F2AED51B08DDBFAE# Skip to 25 min

What a bunch of pricks. I have neighbours who blast music fri-sun well into the early morning, dogs barking, helicopters, sirens, etc. Nobody complains I don't even think los angeles has a sound team but it's not like the state can afford anyways. Maybe it's just a big city thing

When my neighbours first moved in (the house next to me had been empty for some time) I told them to just let me know if I was making too much noise. Few months down the line I get a letter from EH saying I'm a nuisance and if the noise persists they will take action. :-/ They still say hello and talk to me and have never mentioned it, it's such a joke. I've changed my habbits and noise levels quite a bit now but I wish they would have just talked to me.

I've had the same trouble with my neighbours on numerous occasions were I have my set up, seriously had to reduce the levels. but sort of see their point now due to having 2 kids, there's nothing worse than upstairs blasting out the tunes when I've just got them to bed and it continues through the night haha.

I find noise from kids far more annoying than neighbours playing loud music (no offence ;p). Wah wah wah. DADDY, DADDY, MUMMY. Back when I lived with my parents our neighbours kids used to always wake me screaming and shouting but as soon as I put some music on (even talking in the day here) they moaned like hell. Not really fair IMO.

I think people use it as an excuse some times oh my kid has just been put to sleep, youll wake them. Ive been round mates houses plenty times before when we have been making a right racket and their kids just sleep right through it.

Obviously playing loud music through the night is always unacceptable though. One of my mates had a 2k PA setup in his house and his neighbour threatened to take an axe to him one day. :D He got an Asbo in the end lol (my mate that is, not the angry axe man). This was in a detached house but you could here the music clearly from way up the road. His house was always party central on the weekend haha. He's moved now but I always smile when I drive past that house thinking of old times.
