Meh, the game just doesn't really interest me at all. Skyrim and Skyward Sword this month though...

Is it true?

If you purchase a first person shooter for the story you will always be disappointed. BF3 is just as straight forward and linear as all the MW's.

I like it better then Black Ops. There are a lot of guns to choose from, and there are a lot of maps to start off with not even including DLC. There are new game types (I think like two), but there's still a lot to do.
If you liked MW2 you will like MW3, but it still doesn't go over the top and beat MW.

I heard the campaign was only 5 hours long...
Not nearly worth the money imo.

5 hours is laughable. I'm 55 hours into Xenoblade and still not done and I've skipped a large buk of the side quests. :P That's what I hate about most modern FPS's. Thank god for the genre crossover wonder that is Fallout 3/New Vegas. Clocked up about 200 hours combined with all the add-ons and not a single one of them was spent shouting at little ****s through a headset or being shouted at by little ****s through said headset. Bliss.
The ONLY way to play multi-player games is sat round the same TV with mates, preferably on an N64. :P Actually, playing an RTS on PC is also acceptable. ;)

I'm happy with not having to pay for DLC each time it's released, and i like the extra stuff that comes with it. Plus the Hardened edition came in a lovely box!

ohhhh i thought you meant you paid for elite by itself! But yea for sure, Hardened edition is the best choice, especially since they will be releasing 20 DLC packs

5 hours play time. That is seriously outrageous! A decent first person shooter should last 5 weeks minimum.
It astonishes me why people see such an appeal in this game. Honestly, do yourselves a favor & look around the shop. Stop buying games recommended by a friend & venture out a bit.

I've been playing video games since they started, i'm fully capable of decident what i want without anybody telling me. As it happens i'm a big FPS fan, and the main appeal of that type of game has become the online aspect - and that has almost unlimited play time.

Again, if you're buying a game which has been marketed from the first modern warfare as mostly online and hate it because the single player doesn't last a long time then I have to wonder your comprehension skills. BF3 didn't have a long campaign either, yet don't hear people bitching about that.
You don't buy a Modern Warfare game for the single player, it's been like that from mostly the start. Multiplayer beat single player in the first so they stuck with that formula.

I saw that when I went to the midnight release but didn't want to pick it up. I wasn't getting the collectors edition for MW3 (already spent it on MGS:HDC), and I wasn't going to shell out another $50 for it. Are there really going to be that many DLCs? Wtf? Going to be like one map a pack.
