Considering the sheer detail and size of the game that doesn't surprise me. But, like most other games, they probably just did a port from console and didn't bother tweaking it outside of controls.

supposedly it wasnt a port, since the engine is meant to be cross-platform. But John Carmack has been saying some ludacris stuff like "Console sells, PC don't". He must've forgotten about World of Warcraft

Interesting garbage you're talking about there. My game runs perfect, obviously optmized for PC. 60 FPS no slow downs nothing. This is of course with the new beta drivers release for ATI. NVIDIA was fine. ATI Graphic drivers were the problem. If you payed close enough attention to the game you can tell they updated it. Everything was fine except for graphical errors caused by ATI drivers. This is on ATI's part. You can sit here and tell me how it's ID's fault and how its a "console port." It is not a console port. I know this because I own the game and played enough PC games over the years to tell what a console port is. Please link me where he said this, because I know...let me repeat this..I know I read about him defending the PC. Infact he said he was upset that the PC players were mad over a new innovative idea. Having the engine optimize the graphic settings according to the PC hardware being used. They have since added options to change all graphics. They support the game obviously. If you want to talk console port we can talk console ports. Grand Theft Auto 4, MW 2, Halo 2...the list goes on. Anyway if you want to talk about real problems in gaming here is one for you. (by the way how does 25 gigs have anything to do with that, defrag your computer if you're having trouble with your HDD.)

Call of Duty 2 is a remake of Call of Duty 1. Same maps, guns, and gameplay.
Call of Duty 3 is a remake of Call of Duty UO. There was no reason for this remake thus it was not released for PC.
Call of Duty 4 and then you have modified versions of that (WaW, MW2, BO, MW3). Kill streaks in MW 2 were taken from mods made for CoD 4. It was nothing new. If you want to talk about BS lets talk about the Call of Duty series. Not ID, because ID is still our ID. If you can't comprehend that, why are you gaming on a PC?

Edit: Yes they do update the drivers once a month. They should have had the drivers ready before the games release. Did you know ATI released the wrong drivers at first that totally ****ed up the Logitech G15 software as well as Rage itself?

I don't really care what they did, it runs smoothly and looks fantastic on my PC with the new driver I DL'ed so it's all good. :P I've seen it on my mates 360 though and the PC version definitely looks better. Plus I paid 10 less and can play on a mouse/keyboard. WIN!

I'm running it onfull settings, 1080p resolution, atleast 50+ framerate, and then you tell me I need to get my facts right? No, I wont comment on that :)

I am running on the November Beta v2 drivers from ATI, also set texture cache to large, but I can still see the came keep reloading the textures all the time (try spinning 180 degrees in Dead City)

haha it's pc buddy so you might have to do some tweaking. Try going to set launch options and putting these commands in +cvaradd g_fov 12 +com_skipIntroVideo 1 +vt_maxPPF 16 +m_smooth 0 +r_swapInterval 1

If you still have any trouble with the game I can find some other things for you to use - if you find it a problem :)

- Also I played UT 3 the other day and noticed texture pooing on their engine when I did a full 180 turn

I don't get this at all. I did when I first loaded it but after installing the latest driver and patch, turning everything up and V Sync on I get no such problems.

well it doesnt happen that often.
But the lack of more visual options is astoning. Games like Crysis 2 and Rage should have more!
Crytek released a patch for C2 a while ago (still a few months after release) that supposedly (i have not tested it yet) has alot of settings. lts hope iD does the same for Rage, instead of complaining about drivers being out of date (for 5+ years?)

+com_skipIntroVideo 1
I am SO inputting that :)

I accept that PC games are 'better' than console versions but i hate the constant fiddling with settings or having to keep up to date with the latest upgrades etc.

I have this set up on my 360 to make my games run at their best -
Press power on button.
Open disc tray.
Insert disc.
Close tray.
Wait a few seconds.
Start game.

Works a treat every time!

Until you get the red ring of death. ;) I'm on my third 360 haha.

The best part about using a PC for games IMO is:

-Keyboard/mouse for FPS and RTS games. You can't really even play an RTS properly with a controller.

-Mods, you can get so much more out of a game using all the mods you get on a PC.

-Price, PC games are always cheap! Helps with the whole keeping up with Hardware situation.

The better graphics is just a bonus IMO and not the reason I'd go with the format, I have a Wii so you can be sure that's not a deciding factor for me. :P TBH some of us are geeks and quite enjoy the tweaking you have to do on PC.
