Anyone else grabbing this when it's out!? Quite hyped for it, may be disappointed when I play it and it isn't Fallout though haha. I'm sure ID will do a good job though, it looks great!

not sure. I do like id games (Quake 2 foremostly) and as long as they keep it simple (serious sam simple!) I buy them.
If the game is like fallout or borderlands then its out the window imho

It's only "like" Fallout because it's a post-apocalyptic world, just this time it's from an asteroid not nuclear war. Honestly, though it looks good, and I might pick up months from now when it's way lower in price, I won't be getting it. It looks like a fun game in terms of gunning, but I like to be sneaky, even in FPS'.
So while it may *look* like Fallout, they play completely differently. Wish people would stop assuming crap like that.

Well I'm kind of expecting/hoping the story style and setting will be similar to Fallout 3 (obviously not an identical story and without the nod to 50's America etc.) but I expect it to play like a slightly oldskool shooter. Suits me fine, I'm not feeling all the two gun limits and regenerating health in most recent FPS's. :(
How much is it in the US? It's only 25 here on the PC which seems damn reasonable already.

I don't think it will be Serious Sam simple as it's a bit more open ended... I should think it'll have that kind of run and gun style but with a bit more exploring/story. Nothing like Fallout on the mechanics side.
You should really give Fallout 3 a proper try though. :P That's my favourite game in years. Just need to allow yourself to get sucked into the game world and all the back storys etc. I think alot of people expect a FPS when they play it but it's about 95% RPG 5% FPS.

There's definitely a shortage of FPS games that offer that little bit more, so while i'm very much a 'blast everything in sight' sort of gamer, i appreciate it when somebody takes the time to provide something more than the usual mindless shooting and nothing else.

Can't agree with you more, most FPS games that come out only focus on the online aspect of it which it's fun and all but you can only play so much until you get bored.

Yeah, stopped at my GameStop by here and looked at it a little more. It looks good, but I stick to my original statement, I won't be getting it until way after it comes out.

Yeah, a good shooter is needed I was just never really a fan of plain shooters anyway. Will definitely get it, but not something I'm rushing too. I'm already broke from getting Skyrim and Metal Gear HD Collection on reserve ;P
It about $60, depending on tax per state, which is ~= 44.24 Euros and 38.49 GBP. That is though with a "free" upgrade to Anarchy Edition which gives you more crap when you pre-order just like the Fallout New Vegas game. Basically all new games that come out, except the few different, all come out at $60 more or less. That's why I wait unless I REALLY want the game like Skyrim and Metal Gear HD Collection.

Wow, that's quite expensive for a PC game! I'm quite shocked they're so much over there really. I suppose games are region locked now they're on DVD? Otherwise you could probably get it cheaper buying from the UK. :P My family in Malaysia used to ship me games that I could play on my PC back in the day.

Definitely. I've played so many FPS's in my life that if it doesn't have something interesting about it I can't be arsed to play. Just running and shooting isn't enough for me these days.

Well I'll report back on how good/bad it is in the meantime. ;) Uncharted looks good! Nearly makes me wish I had a PS3... Was playing Resistance 3 round a mates the other day on his, seems pretty good.

on subject though, after Duke Nuken forever I've mostly lost trust in ID...if its based on the same engine that DNF is made i'm probably not going to enjoy the "feel" of the game, just the movement - seemed quite restricted? felt like i was only able to look up down left and right..
now half life 2 and Crysis...i loved them - really need to play Crysis 2, but am waiting till I can afford to beef up my graphics card.
DNF uses Unreal Engine 3(?). Rage uses id's own idTech Engine, there's a huge difference :P

It most certainly isn't the DNF engine so don't worry about that. :P
I'm confused though, isn't DNF by 3D Realms and Gearbox Software? I wasn't aware ID had anything at all to do with it... I avoided it as it looked pretty piss poor (ignoring the dated looks even).
I've loved all the Half Life games. :) The original Half Life is one of my all time favourite games. Can't wait for Episode 3. Not played Crysis yet though, didn't look that special to me....
