Your obsessed with everything Far Eastern. Anime, Hentie, Korean School Girls...
I bet you even have a KIA (nothing wrong with KIA's btw)
Do you pray to god to make you reborn as a Japanese child? :P
For what its worth I don't drive a car, though 2 of my bicycles are Japanese. My fandom caters to a variety of different things, some eastern some western (I can get more specific if you want? Hell, you can see a list of all my DVDs here). I get what you're trying to say, I've watched anime and Korean movies for almost a decade, and i've seen a fair bit of weeaboos or japanophiles or whatever their called (though never associated with Korean cinema). What i don't get is how you stretched it to mean liking a band (or a genre in this case) of eastern descent? I have loads of Estonian albums (more then Korean for that matter), does that make me obsessed with Baltic? Most of my movies are from US, does that make me obsessed with America? Or is it just socially acceptable to like American entertainment?

they're an ok group. still prefer Girl's Generation. too many copycats emerging because of them tho, and i noticed that many of the after school members are strikingly similar to some girls generation members.

There are literally dozens of girl and boy groups in Korea. Girls Generation is just the most popular of them (especially outside Korea). So i wouldn't really call them copycats. Though many are trying to beat them regarding popularity. I think Wonder Girls and Girls Generation are the most popular ATM. The former is trying to break in to US, the latter to Japan. Most of them have record deals in a variety of Asian countries, but GG is actually translating their songs into Japanese. Though I also have one single from Wonder Girls that has the tune in Korean, Chinese and English. So id say their heavily trying get into other countries, SM Entertainment is having a concert in France ATM. I tell you, they might actually be the first Asian artists to properly break in Europe / North America.

Girl's Generation can successfully break through right now if they were ready. You would not believe how well aware the asian & asian american (asians that were born here, but follow a lot of their culture still from their older family members) and they follow them.
many non-asian college students are also well aware of them as well.
for those who don't know them, here's a few of their tracks
this isn't an official video, but whoever created it did a great job imo

Girls Generation is another group that should have its own topic, so many good songs. Maybe some other day i'll make one. Mildly related; funny thing i discovered on a tune i posted on this topic, 2 out of 5 members of f(x) are American born Koreans :)
Though as far as the popularity goes, i blame Internet. Especially youtube. It's just so easy these days to find good music from countries that before you only knew from school books. E.g. i would have never guessed id actually listen Mongolian pop music before. So when you actually have family ties to the country its only so much easier id assume.

Dead Fantasy - Gee. My favorite 3D animator made that. You should check out his fight sequences rather than his dance ones. ;)

Wow serious jailbail there.
You're just getting old as we all :P Their all over 18 and most of them well on their 20's.
While the girls are eye candy have you seen the fans? Esp in Japan they are (and I am not joking) 95% middle age men dancing with glow sticks. This is the part that seriously creeps me out.

Actually never, apart from myself in the mirror ;) The live videos pretty much never show the audience. Whats strange about your comment is that in Korea the girl groups are marketed towards boys/men, and the boy groups towards girls/women. But i read an article about SNSD's Japan tour and they were really surprised that most of the audience there were girls.
"Thanks to the Internet and an already established fascination with South Korea's boy bands, young Japanese girls and women are shifting in droves to the latest pop idol sensation the country's girl groups."
"Customers have grown threefold now from last year, and almost 100 percent of our customers are female," said Lee Keun Hang of Hanryu Hyakatten (Korean Department Store).
"Female fans in their 30s and above are already customers because of their love for South Korean dramas and boy bands, but recently I'm seeing more and more teenagers and those in their 20s coming here," Lee said"

Really Olly? Obsession is quite different from liking a band!
nah its more than that.
Most people on this forum seem to love anime cartoons, games, music and the lot. Its different to liking UK Hardcore and being obsessed with our country as UK Hardcore is a global product, as is most of our music and tv stuff. This jap/korean anime sort of thing where grown men obsess over asian girls with bodys the same shape as a european 11 year old, for me, is totally and utterly weird. Lets face it, you all like them cos they're cute and small and innocent looking at shit like that. Tbh thats probably the same reason paedos are attracted to children. I cant understand that tbh, and while my view might be flamed upon and seen as completely naive, I'd like proof otherwise...
Ive seen this obsession go as far as having mental Anime hair styles and stuff.

There is a reason they dont show the audience, balding men in the 40's... I'm not joking... big japanese groups like AKB48 and Kara are more mainstream now so their fan based has progressed from 90% men to about 60%.... hmmm I watch too much Japanese TV now :p
