Oh yeah =). 3xOsc should be mainly Sine. U can also use other envelopes and to improve it or make a separate bass, but Sine is th most important if stabs dont include enough of it (but dont exaggerate).
Today i used 2 stabs and V-Station - Sine, Triangle, Saw.
(Since u use 3xOsc, try adding little Port in Misc, it will make it "jumpier" ;])

I'll try that. But I've seen people talk about filtering basses and other things, i.e. kicks. How would i filter a bass or a kick and what does it do?

I don't think filtering the kick is very common, unless it has some high frequencies you don't want, in which case you'd throw a low pass filter on it :p same for the bass, remove unwanted high frequencies. Other than that for bass, I'd guess if you're using two layers for your bass sound, lowpass one around 200Hz so it's basically just bass, and then high pass the other sound at around 200Hz to remove the bass. Too much stuff filling the same frequencies at the same time might cause the level to go above 0dB and distort, or just sound very muddy. Another tip to avoid kick/bass clashing is to have both kick and offbeat bass be about 3 16th notes long (1,5 steps in your sequencer) and add a tiny bit of release ;> Not too much mind you, or they will clash. You could also just not add the release, in case. You'll figure it out with some fiddling about

Thank you so much. You have no idea how much that helped. I had a vague idea of what filters did, but they make so much for sense now! Lol.

No problem!

Never thought my scrappy post would give any epiphanies, but if it made it clearer for you I'm glad :)

Also, had an OCD moment and had to fix some typos, missing words etc D;

I generaly use sytrus for every thing but find that vember audio's surge is bad ass for bass the lfo control is second to none ;-) not sure if its free or not. failing that 3 x OSC seems to do exactly what i want it to do and is easy to use ;-)

Can't go past 3XOSC, such a good vst, can do so much with it for bass.
