rofl - awesome!

all music has its commercial side, and it tends to be a *little* more commercial than the original genre format, all genres suffer that..people making tik tok remixes that sort of thing ;)

the arguments on there sound idential to smoogie and 95wasthetime "its not hardcore" etc etc

i've no idea if its a pity to see it go as i never used the forum, is it hardstyles equivalent to hardcores Ush.net/happyhardcore.com?

Lol id be one of the people that is ruining hardstyle on that forum. Just like most people on here think the Darren styles & hixxy huggers are doing to hardcore....

I love the "Nu-style" as they put it, i do prefer stuff from about 3-4 years ago but i still love the newer stuff coming out. Kind of makes me think i shouldnt ridicule the commercial lovers so quickly next time....

My god what that dood said is so right, it's nice to see someone who can agree on what proper Hardstlye is for once, his description is absolutely spot on. 'Hardstyle' these days should really be called something different because it's not even close to actual Hardstyle.

"A frequently heard comment that leads to a huge frustration with people that have a professional understanding of what hardstyle music is about. It is obvious and clear, that the "hardstyle" music you are hearing on parties in 2010 is different from the music you heard in 2003. Some of it is to blame on the quality of production, difference in hardware used to compose the track and so forth. However some of it can be traced back to the fact that technically, the music is no longer the same!"

Does it ever stay the same?

No.

This is why I horde all music I love now, it won't stay this way forever.

Seems to me like someone had a temper tantrum when they closed GHS.

The fact that they're arguing that the music has changed between 2003 and 2010 is simply ridiculous! You name me ANY type of electronic music (including genres such as hip hop and R&B which utilise production software) that sounds the same now as it did 7 years ago - I don't think it's possible. Production capabilities have changed and musicians can do more with computers than ever before. This is bound to create new sounds that artists want to share with their listeners.

Hardcore has a good blend of commercial and underground and although at times some of the things GHS has said ("big names at big events, genre attracting bigger names for remixes etc.) are applicable to hardcore too, I don't see people bitching anywhere near to the same level. Sure there's plenty of things we can complain about in the scene, but ultimately we stick with it because we love it. A lot of us were around when Happy Hardcore became UK Hardcore, but we're still here, still ravin' and still happy to be a part of it.

The times they are a changin'... GHS seems like it can't move with them.

It's to do with what is going on in Holland. ;) Hardstyle over there is like Cascada/Bass Hunter sort of stuff over here. It's played on mainstream radio etc all the time, it's huge.

I have to agree personally. The difference between the old stuff and the new stuff is huge... Much prefered the old reversed bass sound stuff, it was wicked. If I want to listen to Nu-Style I'd listen to it at 170+bpm, not slowed down to 150 odd. :P As for Jumpstyle etc.

They should re-brand the original sound as a sub genre of Hard Trance, where it belongs IMO. :) RIP Hardstyle.

if they want it to be distinct, yes. It belongs there because that is what it is. hard Hard Trance.
I'm a fan of both types of hardstyle, and not to big on hardcore at all - much prefer the 160 bpm stuff to 180bpm nustyle.

It's not still Hardstyle though, it's literally a completely different genre, they aren't even close to being the same.

Totally. Original Hardstyle is a hard Hard Trance, what Hardstyle is now is just really badly watered down Nu Style, with awful chord progressions that are pretty much the same in every single song, or at least very similar.

Seems there's smoogies in all genres.

To be honest i like both the older stuff and the newers stuff... but seriously it's not different enough to spur a new genre for **** sake.

Personally i find the "nu-style" much much more musically creative.

To be honest though, they sound like children. The equivalent would be silver shutting down this site because of clubland.

That's ****ing pathetic.
