Hello, I am new to the forums, I hope some of you guys can help me with producing Happy Hardcore.
I have been producing Dubstep, Drum & Bass and Jungle for about a year and a half now.
But recently I have been listening to a bit of Happy Hardcore.
So I thought I would have a go at producing
I have found the drum programming very easy so far, however I am getting very confused with the Melody, I spent last night looking for videos and guides, I copied a few guides on youtube.
But when I make my own melody I doesnt sound too good.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
What are the rules of making Melodies?

Rules? ....didn't know there were any. Just make something up that you like, ie; Compose. ;)

Well where new stuff is concerned, create the most boring mind numbing repetative rubbish you can think of and there you go. Yeah as you can tell i don't like new stuff...

Its just I read somewhere, that the best way to create a good melody was to break a chord to make a "broken chord" using either major chords for happy, upbeat sounds and minor for a emotional sound, I think this guide was for trance but I thought it would still apply.
also are there many producers on the forums?
Cheers

Ahh Old skool!

....
or, rip off a riff that's already been done to death by hundreds of tracks in the past and change a few notes to make it sound different.
This is the other currently fashionable way to do it.
Of course, the 'different' notes that you chose will be the ones that previous producers didn't like because they're crap. They are musically unpleasing....
....but that doesn't stop people these days from doing it.
I could be wrong.

I disagree 'cos that's already been done to death. Try something original. You never know, it might work.

Just do what you'd do in the other genres. Music theory applies equally to all music.
