i have fl 8 with every plugin & vsti under the sun on it.

you don't need anything more.

the only difference between cubase and fl is how you get the sounds as oppose to quality or professionality* of the sounds themselves.

*new word :p

Some people would have said proffessionalism, but not you. I like the cut of your jib ;)

I'd say Ejay ftw, you don't even have to write any melodies!

These DAWs seem to be recommended across the board (in no order):
Cakewalk Sonar
Reason
FL Studio
Cubase
Logic Pro (OS X only)
Ableton

These DAWs I personally recommend (in order):
Cubase
Ardour (Linux and OS X) (free)
LMMS (Linux and Windows) (free)

These DAWs are horrible, and I recommend staying as far away as possible from them (in order):
Sony Acid
REAPER

Oh, and as for audio editing... I can't really speak for anyone else here, but as for me, I always either use Sound Forge or Audacity.

each to their own though, theres quite a few out there, i dont *think* anyones up there own arse enough on here to suggest there is only one true DAW you should be using

why do you need to change from FLstudio5?

I still use FL studio just cos i'm really comfortable with it, i still use FL 7 tho, which is Garbage.. Even tho it's an old version, lots of people still use Cubase SX3 and it's still a fine program. FL studios effects are mostly really really un acceptable and same with the on board synths. Almost everything i use isn't actually provided by FL studio, rather they're different effects plugin bundles and VST's. :)

For some1 getting into Producing, whats the best way of finding out what you like? Theres no way of me trying Logic and cant find a cubase demo. Im just going with what most producers use, Cubase.
