they are not cold cathode, they are LED strips that i found at an Auto Parts store and modified the adapter to fit in with the style of the mixer. I did not get them to pulse to the music for 2 reasons:
1. At the end of a gig, i would probably have epileptic seizure from the lights pulsing all night.
2. I did a lot of research on the topic, found how to do it, but after some experimentation i found that it actually degraded the sound in one way or another. (dont want a crappy sounding mixes now do we)

Speaking of headphones, I've got Skullcandy something something with fur on. Cost £40 I think, decent sound for the money :P
I'll post a pic of my rig later, but it's nothing impressive ^^
