just a suggestion..

after getting info on some tunes that you want n try soooooo hard to get and youve gone down every available avenue to try n get your paws on it.. then to be disheartened by NOT getting the track that you wanted i think it would be a good idea to have a file sharing system on here.. for all of us to trade n exchange for other music.. what do you think??

...I Think the site owner Silver is gonna goes nuts about this one!!!!!!!!!
Silver does (and a lot of people on this site) disagree with downloading music that isn't yours which your not paying for. He's hardly gonna want to set something like that up on his site!!!!!

File sharing is a bad idea.......however, the trade and exchange side of things ain't all that bad an idea if you think in terms of hard copies (12", CD etc)......thinking about it, didn't Silver mention something along those lines in another post somewhere??? sorry, I'm hot and lazy so I can't be arsed searching it out lol

everyone is entitled to a voice and an opinion and this is the suggestion board to better or further the site.. it is just that a SUGGESTION.. whether or not silver takes it in his/her stride is up to them.. i just think personally it would make hardcore not more popular but more heard to new people or old, just bring back some of the old skool you know..
You cant tell me you dont have problems or trouble getting your hands on some music it happens to all of us n where i am its rare you even hear the word happy hardcore, actually i havent heard it once in the 1 n a 1/2 yrs i have been here.. but back to the point..
i still think its a good idea.. maybe a vote or poll is in order see what everyone really thinks about the idea..

Silver who is a male (We think however we need scientific evidence of this!!!! Only joking Silver) wouldn't like it because people would just start graping all the files they want and then wouldn't buy any music and who's losing out there......the scene for starters and where will the producers get money from if their sales are halved because some site is allowing users to share their mp3's. You know that people would abuse a file sharing system anyway so there really isn't much point in trying to get one especially on this site. I respect your oppinion and agree these boards are a good way for people to express there oponions and sholdn't have to worry about there opinion being mocked at by other members. I was just stating that your idea could never hapen because the owner of this site is against such ideas as downloading other peoples music for free.

It will never happen on this site is the basic point.

Sy.

hmmm well maybe but even if every single member on here wanted a file sharing system it still wouldn't happen becasue Silver believes you should pay for tunes which aren't yours which is a fair view in my oppinion And I have to agree I am with him if I made a tune I would be very annoyed if my profit was halfed because of a file sharing system. We know they exist and are gonna be around in the future but it's very hard for HHC artists to make much profit and they mainly need every sale they can make. You would'nt like it if artists stopped producing because people were constantly downloading there tunes now would you?

I wouldn't have bought a quarter of the records that I own if I wasn't able to hear them first on an mp3. I don't abuse, I use and then suport, by buying the 12" I just heard on mp3.
Silver I have a question for you....You see records for sale on ebay all the time, I've seen certain records go for $75.00 and more. Would that be considered cheating the producer and our scene for buying a record at that cost when originally it was $9.99? For example...the 99 red balloons that was just released, I bought it for $14.99, fair price in my opinion, I saw it on ebay and it was up to $30.00.
I think that a file sharing thing wouldn't be a bad idea...."IF" there was some way to control it. Put a limit on the amount of files, or have an skip in the song, or some how make it impossible to write the file to a cd/r disk. I'm sure there is a way to get around it so that mp3's are safer for the producers and yet keep the scene satisfied.

Ok, I know I shouldn't say this but I have collected digital music since the dawn of the mp2 days. As well I have been avidly collecting programs of various sorts. No matter what you do to protect audio files or mp3s or any other program for that matter, another human being will figure out a way to undo what u have done and make it his own for free. That’s the great/bad thing about digital information.

The problem with mp3s is that the MAJORITY of people abuse them. Ask around; see when the last time a person bought a cd. Usually they'll tell u they only bought it because they couldn’t find an mp3 of it.
I agree with u that it is nice to hear a track b4 u buy it, but seems like most online stores offer small sounds samples for listening which I think is great!

Sure if it weren’t for my use of digital music over the years I would have been exposed to the varieties of music that I have been. However, I tend to agree more with Silver, that mp3s n such cause a lot of harm, to smaller scenes like ours.
I've always purchased the music I've enjoyed (and actually most of my mp3 collection is just backups of stuff that I own). But MOST people out there don't do this. They just figure...that they are 'saving' loads of cash :P

oh should have added this.

U know what u should do Silver, when new people sign up for the site, b4 they are officially a member it should route them to a page that has in big block letters DO NOT ASK ABOUT MP3s. DO SO AND DIE...(u can have a link to an explanation of y its there).
make it huge font, so it fills and entire screen, that way noone can say 'i didn't see it'

That way hopefully every time we get a bunch of new members we don't get flooded with topics about where to find mp3s... ;)

ok, well this is how i see it: ok, fine I DO sometimes download MP3s. so do one hell of a lot of other people, but theres one fator that you have to realise : digital music (i.e. MP3) is a great way of getting your music heard. the people who matter, i.e. the mass market will always buy CDs: example, scooter's release (it's almost HHC) "the logical song" has been in the top five now for 5 weeks and is currently at no.2. now i know people who have bought this single, dispite already having it on MP3 or some other not-quite-legal way of obtaining the song, and as i am one of them bought that single to DO WELL in the charts, because i like what scooter do.
Another factor you have to realise : having a song on MP3 is compleatly different than having it on Vinyl for DJs (well....unless u have CD decks).
Whatever happens DJs and the mass market will always want to buy music, as long as they are in to whatever it is - I'm sure that if a happy hardcore song was getting released into the charts as a top 40jobbie, then more-or-less everyone who is into the hardcore scene would buy that CD in the hope of hardcore finally getting the respect and reputation it diserves

(sorry if i went off the subject a bit at the end- just saying my views ;) )

awww shucks, u guys are making me feel guilty now.

Ok I'll come clean. I have thousands upon thousands of songs which I hven't paid for. But I'm a teenager, and I'm poor as hell - most of the stuff I've d/l I just wouldn't buy otherwise, so it's not like I've cheated them of cash. Ok I know people are gonna say I still have, but hmm.. I think it's justified. Actual cd's are so much better quality, dispite what anyone says, and I've recently started buying HH vinyl.

If it wasn't for napster (back then ;)), I still wouldn't know what happy hardcore is. That alone makes the whole thing worthwhile keeping to me.

I know there's all the 'keeping the scene alive' side of it, well when i can, I'll do that. When I get a job, I'll be buying loads of HH vinyl, and the new bonkers, and the re-released bonkers. and you know what? I'll rip them all straight to my pc to my collection (which I don't actually share with others, not saying it makes it better :P)

and you could always offer low quality versions or something, to help people find/identify songs they are looking for - that sounds like an ok idea, would just bump up the sites bandwidth usage somewhat (understatement or what :D)

But well, I don't have a problem with what I do because, right now, at my age, If I didn't d/l these songs, I wouldn't have them, full stop. *when* I get a job, and *when* I can pay for these things I will.
