I'm thinking of buying some DJ equipment. When I'm playing/testing with a dual-cd player and a basic mixer (Behringer VMX300) I find it really fun and enjoying every moment of it  .
The mixer I'm looking at:

Is there really any big difference between single-cd or dual-cd player? In my eyes the dual seems like a better choice...
Then I'm looking for an vinyl player, but I don't know what is a good one...
...any suggestions? scratching would be nice =)
And if those I put link to are not-so-good, then what would you recommend? (at about same price-category)

the only people I've seen use dual-cd players are club djs =P
duals you usually have to mount into a rack, aren't nearly as portable as singles, and you can't scratch with them.
if you are wanting to scratch I would recommend buying a battle mixer. I don't like that behringer because it feels cheap and the effects section is very limited. I'd go with stanton, vestax, or tascam.
as for turntables check out the numark ttx's, vestax pdx's, or technic 12's.

just noticed there is actually no difference between this one and the DJX700... 700 is just more compact.

Im more in for a 4-channel.. (so that I can connect more sounds in the future).
no major scratching meant, maybe needed if some track may sound dull at some moment 
single cds are of course more expensive... or maybe I haven't found the right ones . Any ideas?

I don't care for the stanton, too cramped. in general (minus mixing boards), stay away from behringer.
my recommendation for a very good 4 channel (or more) mixer would be the numark 5000 fx. bit more pricey but I like it just as much if not more than my djm600.
really if you're just looking at starting out I'd say pick up either a pair of pioneer 100/200s or numark axises.

I'm really loving my Vestax PMC-06 that I'm selling because I want an effects driven mixer. The PMC-06 has served me well, and its in TIP-TOP shape. If your interested, I'll sell it to you. Send a PM if even slightly interested, I'm selling it for a HIGHLY discounted rate!

DJ Silver says himself (correct me if I'm wrong hehe ;) ) that Vestax is the Ferrari of mixers. This performs like a ferrari and has kept like a Volvo: keeps on going :D
Even if you don't feel like buying from me, I'd still reccomend the a Vestax mixer, and if you want kiler scratching and adjustable fader control for killer mixing, Vestax PMC-06 is the way to go!

I have not used that model but I can't recommend Behringer... in fact I high recommend you do not buy these:
Behringer mixers
Stanton cartidges
Stanton turntables - Can't hold pitch at high BPM

well anyways, thx lucificifus for the offer but it is only 2 channeled? (is it possible to connect 2cd n 1 vinyl to that?). I don't know much about mixers really...
I'd be more into using cds than vinyls, I'd use the vinyl for playing vinyls (nou sh*t sherlock ) and for scratching.
So I should skip Behringer... Thanks for that info =) I'll keep that in mind
That Numark 5000 fx looks good, but as you said, abit pricey...
I still don't know that much about mixers, but what's with the jog wheel on the mixer? Special effects?
As for cd player(s), I think I'll go for non-dual...
I'm not really after top quality now =), more like first car or something like that (and that car should be able to be driven for several years).
Maybe those Pioneer 100 would be good... or then again the Numark Axis9... (looking at the price, quite a tight budjet  )

I played on that 5000FX mixer at a rave
the EQ knobs are nicely spaced out and big
the headphone cue has very good sound quality
but overall it's inferior to other mixers in that price range
but it's too pricey for what it is...you're basically paying to get a bunch of effects
it's 950$ CAN so you're way better off spending 1200$ CAN and getting an Allen & Heath Xone 62 (now THAT is the Ferrari of mixers)
However, it would be stupid to learn with a mixer like that...and it's not the greatest for spinning hardcore since there's 4 EQ ranges
If I were you I'd get a good, reliable, mixer to learn on
like a Vestax mixer
I have a Vestax PCV-275 and I must say I love it
and when you buy Vestax you know you're getting quality (sure you don't get tons of effects but those are useless anyways...especially when you're learning - get your EQing and beatmatching down then do effects, not the opposite)
and stay the f*** away from Behringer - they're the DEVIL (apart from their 2031A studio monitors...those are AWESOME.)
as for CD players... you can get a dual CD player - I have one...it's not as good as the Pioneer CDJ series of CD players because the pitch faders on dual CD players are smaller and less precise
the best deal right now would be to get two CDJ-200 CD players...they're the best bang for the buck and the pitch fader is much more accurate than the CDJ-100s
also, if you're getting CD players which are not dual CD players go Pioneer (or Denon...maybe) because they're the industry standard and it's always good to have the industry standard (once you get used to dual CD players it's pretty weird playing on CDJs)
now to end my long rambling
if you're getting turntables (and you should...CD players aren't nearly as fun :P) get Technics 1200s. They're built like tanks, they hold the pitch better than anything else and they're the industry standard (EVERY club has them...for a reason.)
if you can't afford them get a cheaper clone and once you've learnt to spin upgrade so you can have the equipment you'll be playing out on at home
I suggest getting a pair of used direct drive decks like Gemini PT-2000s or PT-2400s....or Stanton Str8-80s or Str8-100s
that way when you sell them to upgrade to technics you won't be losing too much money
and they're still decent decks so you can still record mixes on them and such without too much crap going on

damn, the 5000fx are only $500 (~$590 CAN)in the states...you canucks get ripped off =P
the jog wheel is to change parameters in the effects section, you can also scratch with it =P

I saw it in a local store yesterday for 950$ CAN
in that case it's not such a bad deal
but I'd rather invest 600$ in a Vestax mixer than any Numark mixer anyways

Why do everyone say they are crap? =) but if so many say that, I just have to believe . Haven't noticed major problems with the one I used at one place (Behringer-VMX300), oh yes, the bpm counter never goes above 160...

Industry standard?
First I'll get CD players, then turntables , first have to learn more than what I already know (=not much...)

Don't buy Stanton's they drift all over the place as they can't hold the pitch... you wont learn to mix with these and probally give up.

behringer has low prices because they make cheap products. they have a tendency to bleed a lot quicker and in general crap out...save your money and buy decent equipment.
spend more money on your decks (cd or vinyl) as you can buy decent mixers for less.
for turntables buy nothing less than a direct drive. I'd recommend vestax pdxes, technic 12s, or numark ttxes.

What it now looks like is a pair of CDJ-200 and a technics 1200 are the things for me (atm). 488€x2 + 459€... (ouch, from Thomann)
hmmmm, maybe a weeee bit too much for me.. (even with dad-sponsor )
Still wondering what mixer to "use"...
2 channeled or 3 or 4? and what brand? What would you say?

depends on what you want to do with it. I have several mixers but there are 3 main ones that I switch between depending on what I feel like doing...ie scratching, recording a studio mix, preparing to play out at a club, etc.

Well I would mostly play at home for myself (record mixes and train myself at the process), at friends' parties, school parties (and turn 'em into raves ).
Not so hi-tech though, I'm familiar with the Behringer VMX300 (very basic), but would want a mixer that is more advanced than the VMX300.
No major scratching, maybe some minor (don't know yet if I need the scratching part...)
What brand would suit in? 2-3 channels would do (and not so expensive )
