this mixer:
http://www.djstore.co.uk/cgi-bin/item.pl?item=numdxm06
Because I just got this magazine that has a DJ Package which includes:
"Two Numark TT-X1 direct drive turntables · the Numark DMX06 digital mixer onboard effects · Two Shure WHLB cartridges · Behringer HPX-2000 DJ phones for only $1,199.99 which is about £657.78
And if you think about it, it's a good deal because if I were to buy everything separately from the magazine or website the total would be $1293/£708.36

So say if I were to get this package I'd still need:
Two Slipmats
Two Speakers and an Amplifier
and of course records!!
Also, it says it comes with cartridges but would I need to buy needles separately it comes with?

the TTX1's wont dissapoint, however i have used an older version of that mixer and wasnt at all impressed, but the newer version may be better, personally, if i was gonna go witha numark package i would go for PPD01 as the mixer :D

You don't necessarily need an amp and speakers.

You should be able to hook it up to your hi-fi

Well you have experience with mixing and I don't. I seriously doubt I'd be able to tell whether or not the mixer is any good.
As of now they're just confusing knobs and switches on a box...haha!

If your starting out it doesnt really matter what mixer, cause you will only be using cross fader / up faders.

Yea but i doubt she can buy a new one when/if she needs one, after few months? If you get a good one, you can use it much longer. It has the functions that you need, when you become better. And if you deside to quit DJing, its easier to sell.

Thanks!

Also, about the speakers and amp...do I need to them or not? I mean my sister DOES have one of the amplifier boxes wit the speaker on the bottom and the amplifier on the top...for her electric guitar. -.- So like I can always use that at first and then maybe get one of my own or something.
And Affliction, "Two Numark TT-X1 direct drive turntables · the Numark DMX06 digital mixer onboard effects · Two Shure WHLB cartridges · Behringer HPX-2000 DJ phones for only $1,199.99 which is about £657.78" That's all the way said. There was nothing mentioned about the package comin with Slipmats and Needles...

Farchid, we didn't really need to know that...haha!

Well Jake, it comes with the package.
If I get more people that agree with you THEN I won't take that package into consideration.

Wow well I looked around on the web for:
2 Numark TT-X1's Turntables [comes with Slipmats]
1 Numark PPD01 Mixer
1 Behringer HPX-2000 DJ Phones
2 Shure White Label Plug-In DJ Cartridges [comes with Needles]
and the total came up to $1097!! Less than the Package Deal from PSSL and with a supposedly a better mixer.

So people, what's up with the Speaker and AMPlifier?
And how many records should I buy at first?

If its an amp/speaker designed for guitar, then no. It only has mono and its designed for guitars. Get a cheap amp second hand, your mom may have an old one? You can get really good ones cheap. If you have to buy a new one, try to find 1 year old model, their usually a lot cheaper, on sale etc. As for speakers, get mid size ones. Never buy cheap speakers. Try to find "average" ones.

Also if you have "ministereo's" with audio input, you can also use that. I mean what do you use to listen CD's now? Do you have "big" stereos in the living room?

As for records, buy them as you want them. Dont buy records just because you want a lot of them. Buy records that you want to play and listen. Dont know how many though, dont DJ myself.

Heh. In my living room? on the second floor we have these Two 2 feet speakers on stands that are connected to this 4 boxes. One's to control the volume, one where you can chose like Audio,Tuner,CD or Phono, then the other box is for the AM/FM Radio and the last box is a CD Player...YuP, alongside the 45 inch or so screened TV. HaHa. Though if I were to get decks, I wouldn't plan to have them in the living room; more like in my room or something.
Shit! And I have a feeling my mom just threw out an old AMP last year. We cleaned out our basement last year, and my parents threw out a whole bunch of equipment, which included a turntable...and don't ask me why my mom and dad have all these stuff cause I don't know.
And about ministeros...Haven't said the word "sterio" in awhile. LoL. Sterio...is that the thing with the CD Player, Tape Player and the Radio.

btw, Thanks!!
