So we don't have
'what decks should I buy?' and 'what do I need to start DJ'ing?' everyone other week :)
I'm gonna start collecting what I can find via search, organise it and put it up in the these thread... and if you guys wanna help that would be great... or you can just ignore this topic and let is slide onto the 100th page ;)
Just thought it was worth a shot ;)
[EDIT - Ok here goes]
Q: Where can I buy DJ Gear?
A: http://www.Djstore.co.uk, http://www.htfr.com, http://www.decks.co.uk Q: What kind of soundcard should I have for producing? A: A comprehensive list of soundcards suited towards Professional sound recording can be found at: http://home.earthlink.net/~rongonz/home_rec/soundcard.html Some of the cheapest Pro cards that are usually recommended are the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 ($350 US) and the Terratec EWX 24/96 ($250 US). Q: Which are the best Decks to use? A: The three main contenders are the Vestax PDX 2000, the Numark TTX 1 and the Technics 1210 series. All these decks are similar prices with similar features. You should try each one out at see which one you like best. Both the Vestax and the Numark TTX 1 have noticably more torque than the technics decks, and if that is important to you than these decks are superiour in that respect. However, Technics decks have long been the industry standard and you are very likely to find these decks in any clubs you may work in. Having your own pair at home will mean you won't be in for a shock when you spin a club. However it's not impossible to adapt and learn quickly if your experinced - Don't choose the technics if the other deck has a feature you specifically crave. Q: Which are the best headphones to use? A: The Sony mdr-v700 are well respected headphones, hard to go wrong with them (other choices to come soon ;)) Q: What are the best Microphones to use? A: http://www.rode.com.au/NT2000WhatsNew.htm Other good ones: http://www.dpamicrophones.com/eng_pub/Products/Item-3541.html http://www.sennheiserusa.com/newsite/productdetail.asp?transid=000762 http://www.sennheiserusa.com/newsite/productdetail.asp?transid=004521 http://www.sennheiserusa.com/newsite/productdetail.asp?transid=000984 (Thanks Silver :)) Q: What are the best carts to use? A: Ortofon Concorde Pro S get good reviews all round from people on this board (feel free to challenge this, PM me :P) Q: I wanna write some hhc tracks, where do i start? A: The best place to start is by getting a program called fruityloops. the demo can be downloaded at www.fruityloops.com and is a great place to start out because its very simple to use. Download it and have a play around. everything i have done and learnt has been self-educated. open the tutorials to teach you the basics :) (thanks Blasphemy)

hahah classic ;)
Guys, this is what I *don't* want it to be.. because this happens every time! ;)
would everyone agree to this?

Yeah sounds cool mate. I love my numarks and i like techs too.
I find Numarks nicer to use but i do agree that techs are probably a more reliable turntable. though only time will tell.

Q: Which are the best Decks to use?
A: The three main contenders are the Vestax PDX 2000, the Numark TTX 1 and the Technics 1210 series.
Generally, these decks are all better in different areas. I recommend the Vestax for scratching because of the high torque (motor strength) and straight tone arm. Technics have a good reputation because of their quality. They will practically never break - and thats a fact. Numarks are the new era of decks with some pretty nifty features but it may take longer to learn all the features than it takes to learn to mix.
Q: I wanna write some hhc tracks, where do i start?
A: The best place to start is by getting a program called fruityloops. the demo can be downloaded at www.fruityloops.com and is a great place to start out because its very simple to use. It annoys me when ppl say 'go for technics, they ARE better'.
Its like saying 'wear these trainers, they ARE the best for running' which is ******** coz ppl have different needs. For a dj starting out they need to want to do it so getting a deck which they dont like the look or feel of may put them off. At the early stage its all about what feels good and what you like the feel of. I KNOW that Technics r industry standard and they r hardwearing but i prefer the look and feel of the new numarks. I know that if u want to progress to professional level you will probably endup getting technics (unless ttx bcomes the new industry standard) which probably wont happen because technics definitely are the most hardwearing. you have 2 keep in mind ppls individuality!
Just my opinion!
