If you slow hhc down, it would sound c**p blasting out the stereo of your car. It would sound like some sh** house song and we don't want that.

Jeez! Hardcore has never been in danger of commercialisation. Here's Johnny was number one on the charts for a few weeks back in 95' and thats about it here in australia for hardcores commercialism.

Its too intense and fast for the masses so keeping it fast is the best plan...

i like most happy hardcore around the 175/180 mark. i reckon 185 and 190 can sound a little too fast depending on whether its bouncy hardcore (where it can sound better) or more epic hardcore like innovate and unique and stuff like that. so i say dont slow it down and dont speed it up.
and the statement about hardcore sounds better slower is a bit generalised dont you think.. maybe give some examples

and if slowing down hardcore means it will be commercially acceptable.. then f**k that.. listen to hard house if hhc is too fast for ya.

but does it have to slow down or speed up.. i mean i like it how it is and i liked it how it used to be and i'm guessing i'll like it wherever it goes. just DON'T go commercial!!!!

i suppose the styles of hardcore can affect the speed - true happy hardcore sounds good @ 170 ish,but the deep hardcore like marc smith and tekno dred doesn't sound right unless it's a bit faster, and also, about hardcore becoming commercial, lets just say i used to like garage till that became commercial and i'm not the only person who thinks that.we wouldn't want that to happen to hardcore would we???

If Hardcore becomes commercial I am foing to leave the scene I once had an argument in a forum about someone who wanted Happy Hardcore to be played on Radio One. What a complete tw** all I can say is that he thought he would be the kiddy of the forum but everyone there just told him that he was a prick.

Thoughts please...

One of the best parts of Happy Hardcore is that it isn't commercial, the only places you can listen to it, is in clubs. So you build yourself during the week, waiting for the weekend to go clubbing.

If Happy Hardcore went commercial (god forbid), it would end up getting alot slower, that itself would be a crime.

I think the closest hhc has got to comercialising was when one of force and styles' tunes came out. I think it was heart of gold??

Remember in europe happy hardcore was commerical, I walked in McDonalds somewhere in Europe around 95/96 and happy hardcore was playing. Dune and scooter got into the charts in Europe...

I wouldn't mind more people at parties and events and more people buying records etc... BUT I don't want some pretty bimbo on TV or radio talking about it like it's the latest trend and all these Brintney Spears converts become ravers...

Scooter got in the charts in 95/96, same time as when Ultrasonic got in the charts.

See here in the states u can't even get that...no hardcore anywwhere...at a rave in canada maybe, but as far as i know, unless you go to california where there's a somewhat thriving happy hardcore scene, you're pretty much stuck with streaming radio or the occassional rave which you have to go on a 7-13 hour drive to go to canada..
