Because when buying in bulk it can potentially add unnecessary costs as some tunes can survive the lossy compression. I was asking Thumpa cos he?s played out on loads of different systems and was interested to know his verdict.
I only said pre-2000 tunes cos some of the 1998-1999 tunes have really weak, crap kicks and bass before you?ve even started.

WAV isn't always best
Example
Om the Sharkey album the WAV version of Rainbow Islands Sharkey Remix sounds VERY VERY bad but you can go and buy an MP3 version that sounds SOOOOO much better. It depends on the source.
One thing I have learned is its always best to investigate and listen to previews if you can because as this thread has demonstrated the WAV's put out are in some cases not as good as the MP3's put out in the early to mid 2000s.
Also there is this silly need to make everything loud these days. Comparing the Just another label files to the ones on their store its a massive difference in volume which just isn't necessary. Just give us the DAT rips with whatever necessary fixes are needed. No Mastering for the old stuff.
I have a very good example of this. When I can get on the computer I shall upload it. The difference a few years makes is huge.

I got mine off iTunes but I see it's also on Juno in WAV for those that want it.
https://www.junodownload.com/products/react-test-five/3377047-02/ I'm sure you will agree it sounds a million times better than the one on the Sharkey album.
