I like loads of DJ's but one I have the most amount of repect for is DJ Sharkey. For those who dont know he came out as being gay not long after hanging up the mic. To me, i would have thought this took loads of guts. That and the fact that he always plays what he wants and truly loves his music.

Thats interesting because I always wondered why Bonkers (the CD series) came out on React (a normally gay house label), and I had also heard rumors that Hixxy is gay as well (unconfirmed, do not quote me on that). This explains a few things with regards to that series....
Gay or not either way doesn't bother me... both Sharkey and Hixxy make good tunes, they both made the classic "Toy Town".
Piece of triva for you, when toy town was released it sold 6000 units in the first week and was going to appear in the UK charts for units sold, but Hixxy pulled it off the shelves because a happy hardcore chart hit would have killed the UK happy hardcore scene that that time (turned everything commerical).... now that deserves respect, saving the scene rather than cashing in on it.

I think Sharkey, Mark EG, M-Zone, DJ Energy and Billy Bunter all deserve respect for trying to play good progressive tunes rather than just rinse out the same tired old crap. I remember seeing Billy Bunter at Helter Skelter once at the end of 1997 playing the baddest set and being given grief by MC Magika just cos it wasnt the usual crappy tunes. No wonder he left the scene. I see him now at Pendragon and other proper events and he plays the most upfront stuff.
DJ's to hate are definately Vibes and Dougal and all the other talentless DJs who stifled the scene by failing to put effort and energy into moving the music foward rather than just earning their money, buying flash cars and rinsing out the same old cheesy, crappy tunes. Slipmatt is also up there for being a great DJ who failed to use his power and influence to move the music foward. It's just a shame that these losers are still worshipped by what remains of the underground hardcore crew...

Cant remember when Sahrkey came out but it was about 4-5 years ago now.
Its weird, most/ a lote of people i speak to on the net dont like dougal and vibes yet they get booked quite often. I suppose its coz of the reputation they got years ago. I also think scott brown is doin some interesting things at th mo.

Well, regarding the Hixxy being gay rumour, I am 99% sure thats not true, tho he does enjoy UFO's company a lot ;)
As for the DJ's I love and hate.
The most influential Happy Hardcore DJ has to be Hixxy.. who as silver said, saved the scene...
The DJ who brings most joy and feeling in his sets/tunes has to be Scott Brown, I can still remember the first time i heard Elysium... :D
As for DJ's I hate, Vinylgroover I now hate as hes turned Hard House (gimp)...
He used to be good...
I'm not to keen on slipmatt either...
You know given the choice I'd gladly take your hand for ev-er, and a day..
You know the words, just say it...
Its as the nights grow colder I still cry these bittersweet tears...
While I hope and pray.. that we'll somehow make it..

Can I ask why you don't like Frolic?
I like what he is doing for happy hardcore but I think he needs to go back to mixing school or something :)

i dont care for his mixing..thats all.
for as much recognition as he gets, hes not THAT good of a dj. i just dont think he is all that good...he drops beats left and right...plays songs into the ground..etc..just my opinion.
