A lot of great music splattered across this collection. Stompin' Choonz was a huge part of my record collecting days! I still remember hearing tracks like 'U R Everything' and the DJ Slipmatt 'Higher Love' remix for the first time and being overjoyed. 24 years on and they still hit the spot.
Oh, and certain tracks (Feel the Love) for example are a gentle reminder why I still think Donna Grassie was Hardcore's greatest ever vocalist. IMO.

Same with the JAL completionist one too. Don't these companies like money. Does anyone like money. This should no be complicated. Here we have a label that is making money for defunct labels and they turn around and said you can only do it in a timed fashion. So after 30 days the label goes back to collecting dust. Where HU can just keep the collections for sale so more and more people overtime can have access to it.
I know at some point I was going to hopefully have some extra cash lying around to justify spending 75 pounds (135 CDN where I am) but right now I don't have it (or I can't justify it ATM)
Its bad enough Sharkey doesn't like money enough to sell every tune he has but this is silly
Preaching to the choir, believe, but it's really this or nothing. We'll try to relicense down the road, obviously.

Is there some drama going on around this release? I see on the HU Facebook page 2 people have posted about royalty?s. Anyone know who the upset artist is or who is trying to cause trouble? Obviously what they are saying is rubbish as has already been explained to them in the reply?s. We saw all this in 2017 do we really have to have round 2.

Not got a clue, but it's going to be related to some early noughties Stompin' Choonz stuff.
I've reached out to get some clarity. If nothing else, Stage One have been great at accounting to Darwin. This is *far* from an industry, never mind scene, norm. H-e-h.

quote: Benjamin Handbury The original will never see the light of day.
As far as I'm aware they've lost it. And if they think they're getting a copy off me to sell, they can bollox!
Might give it away as a free download though.

quote: Gary Lomax Are you planning on paying the artists their fair share for any sales you get? Legitimately asking for friend (because I'm angry about how this looks).
quote: Shane Saiyan HU licenses the tracks from the parent label for all of these labels, in this case Stage One. HU pays Stage One. Stage One then distributes any moneys owed to the artists per their agreements when they signed their tracks over. That's how this stuff works.
quote: Hardcore Underground Gary Lomax Can you dm us regarding the affected artist? Whatever else has gone on, Stage One have always accounted accurately and in a timely fashion.
quote: Benjamin Handbury "Thats how this stuff works"
Except it doesn't.
Or perhaps it does? Maybe it depends who you are.

quote: Hardcore Underground Product is removed from sale on June 30th! LIMITED availability.
quote: Brent Stanley Waltham Hardcore Underground what about the individual artist residuals surely you cannot condone it.
quote: Brent Stanley Waltham Hardcore Underground If the entire rave scene was founded on the principles of sweet, love and unity how have we come so far to deny an artist what they are rightfully owed. Geezzzzz have you guys fallen that far
quote: Shane Saiyan The label owns the rights to the music. This is the agreement they made with the label when they signed the tracks over for release. The label licenses the tracks to Hardcore Underground, who releases them in these bundles. The label, upon receiving the money from sales of the bundles, then distributes any money owed to the artists per their agreements.
Further, it is the labels, or in this case the parent company of the labels, which is Stage One, who dictates the limited nature of these releases.
I don't know what makes you think the artists don't see any money from these bundles but unless they signed REALLY shitty deals when they signed their tracks, that is 100% factually incorrect. And that would not be on Hardcore Underground, that would be on Stage One.
quote: Hardcore Underground Exactly what he said. All the music is licensed from the copyright owner, and once we've paid them, it is their responsiblity to distribute to the artists under whatever deal those tracks were signed in the first place. We're very insistant that artists get paid for their work; we pay all of those we license directly from, and for the eagle eyed; you'll notice we stopped dealing with a few third party labels who we felt were taking advantage of their artists, and not passing along the royalties we'd paid. (In some cases blaming us, despite payment having been made to the copyright owner). Nice.
Anyway, that won't be an issue with JAL, so you can rest assured the artists will be paid. They're one if the most professional outlets in terms of paperwork and accounts.

I know who it is, but I also know he wouldn't be making a drama out of it for nothing. He's commented on there so it shouldn't be too hard to work out.

Hopefully I have used the quote function accurately if there are any errors let me know before getting upset. I will fix.
If this person has a legitimate complaint about payment then he should get in contact with stage one or even talk to HU and HU can perhaps pass the message along. Although it's not their job to do so it's stage one's. There is no need to be getting angry on facebook and making this public. Hopefully this will get resolved and this person will act calmly before doing this in the future. Mistakes happen give them a chance before going public.
For anyone who doesn't know who it is discogs search the name of the upset artist.

I figured it might be this track. It was one of the last things on the table before I was removed. We'd happily mediate if we weren't all unfriended. I'm just amazed there's someone more annoyed than me 😂

Yea, original Taste the Funk was one I was interested in. I still got it as a MP3 back from the NEC Store, but a WAV/Flac would've been nice.
