Stumbled across this on youtube, is a 60 minutes news story on the Rave Scene in Sydney Australia in 1996. What surprised me is the whole scene seemed to be all Happy Hardcore over there as you find out.
It is a bit sad in parts on the drug death of a raver too.

Australia had a pretty decent old skool / fantazia style following, remember Rat Pack doing a lot of stuff down under.
Seeing that video just reminds me of what we all faced back in the day. Persecution from the police / councils / government as they labelled it a "drug culture" and they shut down and made it impossible to run decent raves.
Getting called a druggie by someone into metal was the funniest thing of all.

Yeah I think it was all so alien to any previous youth culture which made a lot of people very against it. Seems similar happenings there as the UK.
