Overall impressions:

Dougal's mix is OK, some stand out tracks but a lot of filler as well; listening back, Ramos - Sunshine (Dougal & Skeedale remix) isn't a bad tune, did that ever get a release?

Sy's mix is good, well put together, couple of ropey vocals but nothing too terrible.

Vibes's is... inconsistent? Some great tracks on there (I still love "look at the stars"), but a few that I really don't care for.

I believe the reason Sharkey didn't do Bonkers 6 & 7 was because he either broken his arm or leg...cant remember which one it was.

Vibes' mix has always been a personal favourite of mine. Probably as cheesy as it gets but that might be why I love it so much :D. Tons of pianos, uplifting melodies and fun at a high tempo (180). My favourites include heaven, all i need is love, techno wonderland and especially this is the night. Mixing is a bit ehh at times but i wouldn't say it distracts all too much. Hixxy's had much worse transitions and beat-matching in some of his mixes anyway.

Sy's mix is my second favourite but i don't care as much for it as most of you probably do. Biggest reason for that is that i didn't like the quosh productions from that time (same problem with his bonkers 7 mix). The other tracks are mostly real bangers though (e.g flower needs the rain, give me a reason). Shout outs to the wicked scratching though, always made his mixes a lot more intersting imo.

Dougal's mix is wierd. It features most of favourite tracks of this CD but also most of my least favourites. I dislike the sound that dougal and skeedale had during the time. The melodies i generally didn't find catchy and the productions lacked energy and had a wierd soundset imo. Suprisingly I'm a fan of shelter for a dream, love both the melody and vocals. Best tracks are still the space invader, perfect dreams and the perfect eyeopener (favourite track of entire album) remixes.

That's why I didn't like Dougal's mix: the melodies in his tracks at the time just weren't catchy, and it's the same melody chords over and over and over.

the scratching on virtual dreams is one of my favourite parts, the oh my god sample as it comes in and then the funky along to the melody, ive tried recreating it myself many times, and i cannot, not even close haha, elevate captured as dougals opener is an absolutely superb piece of music, i dont think i have ever heard it anywhere else apart from on bonkers 6 either.

I should probably listen again because I thought it was awful when it first came out.

I wasn't going to say anything, but it definitely isn't my favourite Hardcore compilation...

There was an American release called World of Dougal that featured Captured/Shelter From A Dream. That is a great track!

You can get it DJ Friendly in digital format via Essential Hardcore CD compilation :)

https://www.discogs.com/Various-Essential-Hardcore-20-Bangin-Hardcore-Anthems/release/174873

Sitar is on there, too, well worth getting!

along with the usual painful Beachwood appearances of Big G - Destiny / K.C. - Stompin' In and Fat Larry & Sam - Have The People Stompin'
haha.
