You can live without it, but for someone who really wants to have a lot of flexibility with scratching and the like, it's a must.

Well i have the pmc 05 now and i always have the fade curve set to immediate. Ideally id want the same mixer with 3 channels. But i suppose to will suffice for now. I think i want to stick with vestax so i may just save up for the pmc 37.

Lot of money though

you won't need 3 channels unless you want to do 3 deck mixes. just plug it into one of the line channels and you're away :)

Yeah thats what ive done now but the problem is that i can only mix the cd in when the right deck is playing and i want to have the extra options that an extra channel would give me. I have been looking at the stanton sl 501 ( i think thats what its called ) and the numark matrix 3. But i feel like id be going back in quality

Frank,

Have you thought about doing a bit of cheeky wiring, and using a switcher/splitter box, so that effectively your CD deck feeds both your line inputs with a switch inbetween so you can select which channel to send it to? Shouldn't cost too much... £10ish I'd imagine. I did something similar with my parent's entertainment system so that one system fed 2 rooms, with the option to switch it off in either room, or have it in both, and that cost about £20 including wiring.... and that needed a fourway switch!!! That way you get to keep the mixer you are happy with.

if you have the cash, id recommend the stanton SMX501.

http://www.htfr.com/more-info/?catno=MR99898

PRICE - £349.00 / $558.40 / 495.57 Euro

Product Review

The stanton smx501 3 channel scratch mixer is a rare breed indeed - a mixer with a layout where the turntablist is definitely in mind, but with features firmly designed to attract club/rave djs. The face panel layout has a completely clear lower end with nothing to get in the way of your hand movement. Drive effects through all three channels, the mic and the send/return connections. Use the 3 band complete kill eq controls on each channel for some amazing sound manipulation. Use the assignable penny & giles crossfader with its curve control and reverse switches to throw some awesome battle tricks around the room.
