my mate has XL500s and yea they luk gr8, but (me been a technics kinda guy) can NOT mix on them decks at all, the slight touch and the whole recourd flys round!!! but i have to say my mate (whos decks there are) loves them, i think he likes been able to move the recourd freely, if u get wot i mean :S:S:S, i think ppl are differant, and differant ppl can mix on differant types of decks, but for me my eyes are on technics, plainly because i was brought up on them :P , what deck have u been on before???????

I would love to get technics but just dont have that kind of money at the moment.
The decks and mixer i listed are kind of my limit for what i can spend at the moment. but because this is my first setup I have hardly any idea what to get.
What mixer would u recomend? I really liked the FX7000 when i saw it and it seemed to have loads of cool features. however ive heard so many bad things about Gemini and in particular the Gemini Xfaders that im not really sure at this point...

I'm sorry but I would no longer recommend Gemini decks for serious mixing. After nearly 2 years I've found more and more that it just doesn't keep the pitch nearly as good as other decks, esp Techs. It's not impossible, but just takes a lot longer because the drive has an unpredictable delay between when you move the slider and when the record speed actually changes, and at what rate as well. I've gotten used to them but on Technics you can just set it and forget it, whereas on mine you need to constantly monitor the mix to see if it's going sour.
What I heard was that Technic's patent expired so there should be other cheaper options on the market that may not quite be exactly like Techs, but also it could be better, who knows. Your best bet is to try some out before you purchase anything, so you know what you like.

technics hold their pitch perfectly and the only decks that come close are vestax. but even then the sider is too loose and as i found out the hard way,in the middle of a set live. at the mo i'd recommens nothig but technics, and you'll find second hand 1210's are in just as good working order as brand new ones, and a hell a lot cheaper

well im not sure if u guys have american dj equipment out there ( maybe u can get it online or something)..but they got this cheap mixer ( Q-d3).. i think about $200, maybe a lil more, that works real well. u can mix on it as well as scratch cause it has a curve. i would usually say anything (besides lighting) thats made from american dj sucks.. however, this mixer proved me wrong.
