is the vip stream down?
i've been having buffering issues the past couple weeks,
but now the url just takes me to a screen full of error text.

We switched to https for the entire site the other day, I think the auth module for the stream is bugging out, I'll take a look and report back with a fix.

The problem was with our site wide HTTPs implementation which we did a few days back. The VIP stream has been fixed and all is working as expected now. Thanks for reporting, let me know if you have any other issues.
