Well, the cheeseyness is really the musically part of it and nothing to do with fruityloops.
For a hardcore feel you want:
- Killa bassdrum
- Fat ass synth
- Speed (165bpm-200bpm)
The rest is kinda optional (this doesn't mean percussion).

the reason i wouldn't reccommend people to learn fruity is that you can never make the really good sounding tracks with them. it's great to get a feel for producing, sequencing, looping etc but you can never get high-end production out of it, so you're basically learning a skill that can't get you right to the top.
sorry ryg0r not trying to detract from your abilities or knowledge!! i think that you sharing your knowledge of this program with other fruity users is a kind offer and would be a great service. respect!

nah d00d, maximum respest, hey.
I wouldn't say its a wasted skill (not to say that I have reached uber-looper status), but it can help.
I see it as learning to use a computer to mix, before you jump on to some decks. Same same but diffrent.
I wouldn't say that you can't get high quality out of it either, it depends what you set it to. You can get DVD quality out of it (24bits/96kHz)

No offense dude but that's a pretty ridiculous statement. The only thing stopping someone making release-quality tracks with Fruity Loops Studio is their own lack of ability. Just because you can't personally get a good sound out of it doesn't mean it's a poor product! A good craftsman never blames his tools.
With decent VST soft synths and a knowledge of music some awesome stuff can be made with Fruity Loops. I believe Ruffage - Paradise is an example.
People are forgetting that Fruity Loops is a much more powerful tool than what producers had available in any form ten years ago. Would you say the classic old school breakbeat tunes are not "good sounding"?
I'm just curious as to what specific aspects of the software you feel are limiting, because it sure sounds fine to me.

I completely agree with tripolar. I have heard many "top end" tunes done using only fruityloops and FREE vsti's!
I don't know where this dissing of fruity came from. I do believe there was a large comparison done between all the soft studio's and it was found that reason's timing was off by fractions of a second. Now i'm not dissing reason, if it works for them then good. Also, the sound quality issue that many people seem to diss fruity for was also disproved. So basically, all soft studio's are good, find the one that suits you and be happy, but don't diss them.
