I just wanted to know what kind of mixer would everyone go with? Right now I have a Pioneer DJM300. I was looking at the Behringer VMX300, Gemini FX7000, Numark DXM06 or the Pioneer DJM600. Ifnyone has any of these please let me know. Thanks.

If you like the 300 youv got now then id go for the pioneer djm600. Definately not the gemini. They tend to be a bit unreliable. I dont know about the other 2 but i would recommend the pioneer over a lot of mixers

Stay away from Numark mixers.

it depends what you do... IMO pioneer dont make good mixers, but mass marketing has got them installed in every club round the world apart from the ones that do some research and have rotaries or rane empaths.
so if your into mixing and you want the standard get the 600. but if your into mixing and want the best, get a rane empath, no doubt the best hybrid mixer out there, magnetic crossfader, penny and giles upfaders, a really kick ass effect send/return system and it sounds god damn booooodiful. there will be no problems scratching on that beast....the xfader has been tested to 6million rotations :O thats a lot of clicking. If you want something a little less expensive but still damn good, do some research into the ecler smac 30 and 40 (30 being 3ch and 40 being 4ch) there packed chockers with features and I hear a LOT of good things about them. All the tech nuts I know rate them the best mixer in there price range.
if your into skratching, dont buy any pioneer mixer!!!!! i cant stress that enough, pioneer faders are tres pov and dont stand up to even the lightest scratching hand, not to mention that the 600 is the only mixer they have with curve control...wtf is up with that pioneer?
if your into teh skratch get a rane ttm56 or an ecler hak 360. there both chockers with features, rane being the better of the 2 IMO with full magnetic faders, the ecler only having a magnetic fader on the xfader. But either will be find and there both light years ahead of any other scratch mixer on the market. vestax has lost there way in mixers IMO there not really pushing the technology @ all, just running on the wealth of a good name, much the same as pioneer.
the reason i only list the top of the range mixers is i really dont think its worth just buying something 'good' or something that will be 'ok' cos your just going to want something better. so save your pennies, get the best and then dont upgrade for years and years to come :)

Ah... ya beat me to it. I've heard very good things about all of the Ecler mixers. They have great EQs and the faders last for a long ass time from what I've heard. I'm not sure, but I think they actually use Rane faders... something to look into anyway. I might go with an Ecler myself when this Numark of mine dies.

I had a numark dm-2002x for a little over four years and had very little problems with it.lots of people complain about the faders but I gave mine serious use and only until recently did I figure it was definetly time to upgrade.I got a pmc-05 proII which I didn´t get the chance to try out personally before I got it since I had a co-worker of mine got it for me on a trip of his to florida(I live in colombia).
the one thing I really miss from the numark is the ability to hear the X-fader mix in the headphones and since I dont have a stereo through which I can amplify the outs I´ve had to use a guitar amp which sounds like ...a guitar amp!

quote: Most sound crews use really cheap mixers and this is a BIG no no. The mixer is probably THE most important unit a DJ needs to perform well. The following mixers are highly recommended:
Rane MP-24(x)
Rane MP-22(x)
Rane MP-44
Rane Mojo MM 8z
Vestax PMC-55
Vestax PMC-27 Mk II
Vestax PMC-270a

I would, up to last week, have said get the Technics SHDX1200. But stay away! In less than six months, its totally fooked. Really! Unusable. So much for Technics build quality. Faders don't last, rotaries crackle and line switch cuts left channel altogether. I'm now on a Stanton SK2-F, which was meant to only be temporary but I may well keep it for a while! Fader is fantastic. Plus you can pick up an SK2-F for about £200! Bargain! Rane and Ecler prob are the best but cost a few quid I'm affraid.
