hey .. im trying to come up with a way to generate a the classic gabber bass drum sound.. i have a methon already using cool edit.. but it comes out too digital sounding.. and i want an organic.. distorted bass bass drum... and not the sound u get wen u distort any old bass drum...
for new ppl here ill explain how i generate them now...
ok .. im using cool edit.. but u can use almost any wav editor...
start by generating a tone.. .60hrts sine wave 3-4 sec should b enuf
then take your pitch editor.. (dopler) and draw a line from top right to bottom left
this will make ur bass tone sound like a brum already . then fuk around with it untill. it sounds.. good.. add effects disstortion.. more dopler... whatever
it sounds good.. if u want to make really digital sounding bass drums.. just put the out put level on heaps after its done/..

A good way to get a nice warm kick drum sound is to take a sample of an acoustic kik, and mix it in with that from a drum machine (usually a 909 in my case)..... depending on what samples you use, it can create some really useable stuff....... then add overdrive to it (not distortion, as this can sound a bit too cold sometimes)..... is you have an amp modeller then use this, or better still overdrive the inputs on your mixing desk, or if you want a really analoguey overdrive sound, Mic up a guitar amp, and pass it through there!
just experiment with different sounds, and different effects and see what you come up with

yeah, that is quite classic.
Also the layering of kicks can give some mad effects...
