right i got a pair of these last thursday and am thinking one of ems lagging a bit. i read somewhere the little dots on the side of the platter are there to indicate if the turntables movin at the right speed, asin on of the rows doesn't appear to be moving when theyre working perfectly, but on one of them the dots move slowly. also my mixes go out of time even when they sound well in time (even though this is probably my fault not the decks, even the masters mess up sometimes)
i know this is bein picky, but im tryin to tell myself that i am superb at mixin when im probably not....

The "dots" well...depends on the record speed is on. They are both represented by 2 different rows. one for the 45, one for the 33. So one is going to go faster than the other one depending on the current running speed. The dots at least on my player sortof moves a tad when at zero because I think the platter isn't playing exactly at a straight line. On my table the bottom row big dot is represent 45, and the bottom row smaller dot is running faster, while in 33 rpm mode its the bottom row small dot that isn't moving, bottom row big dot moving fast. Can't get any more layman terms than that I guess!
Also its common for it to sound on time for a few seconds then go off again. thats because even if you have one at +2, its not a perfect 2. its like +2.2 or 1.9. On drives other than technics, its even worse, some have trouble holding the pitch. never used the citronic pd-1s before thou..
So pretty much you just learn how to work with it. dragging fingers, pushing the spindle, or pushing the pitch button up or down really quick then back to normal, or moving the pitch button in millimeters.
Keep the overconfidence. It works in your favor than saying I suck all the time. You will get it in time :)

Maybe only the 1200s do this, but on mine, regardless of 45 or 33, the big dot always stands still when quartzed or at 0.

i used to have pd-1's and never experienced any problems with inconsistant speed, infact i was more than happy with that side of the decks, although the 0 pitch dip wasn't that reliable (bit of play in there) unless you can notice a difference in the way one deck reacts compared to the other, i wouldn't worry about the fact that the dots on the platter don't stop dead still
