theres a few programs out there that allow you to make simple tunes, such as acid and fruity loops.. i'm sure theres other people can be more informative on this

Definatly Try Fruity Loops, as a first program for making and learning how to make tunes as this is the easist program that I've found for this .

Fruity loops makes baby jesus cry.
If you want to make tracks professionally some day dont even think about using that program. It makes track sound like shiat.

I recommend cubase sx. And a shitload of good vsts, such as pro-53, junox2 (wooooooo hoovers) and absytnh. and also a bunch of acapella samples
(you can get afew at www.acapella-heaven.tk).

and to finalise the track to play it out i recommend t-racks for mastering. But beware that if you dont know what compressing/limiting means, you should read on it a lot and practice a lot before you master your track or else your track is not gonna sound good.

Imagine spending all that money and discovering music production isn't for you! Fruity Loops is a little more dearer than your average PC software but no where near the price of Cubase SX.

Dave!

I recomend reason at an intermediate level :) I started out with floops and i made some pretty good songs with it. I still use all the effects it has.

If you do decide to get FLoops don't waste ur time by getting pro. Get full without piano roll floops = total garbage.

BTW does anyone else find it kind of scary that daveo has 666 posts?

I SWEAR OFFICER IT WAS ME!!! wait...

^^
Yeah,scary shiyat.*shudders*

Back on topic:
I've never tried Fruity Loops, though from what I have heard it ain't half bad.
I've used Cubasis and Cubase SX,they're are both pretty good and if you
have a decent keyboard then you can plug that in and use some of the samples, drum patterns or whatever from there.

Hope that helped a little.

Im just a bassline addict

i personally feel that fruity loops is a bit lacking compared to something like reason or acid. have a fiddle with all of them i would suggest then see what you like the best and what is the easiest to use. :)

The new fruityloops is just as good as cubase in my opinion, except you get unlimited VSTs, a nicer interface, more effects, and a less-cluttered interface with fruityloops.

So yeah, cubase -is- so much better. ;)
