I'd like to record some of my sets to CD. I'd also like to have each song have it's individual track, so it isn't like Bonkers 2 (one whole track). Is there any recording software out there to do this? I've been round a few shops and so far nothing.

mousie's guide to recording a mix cd
you need sound forge - www.sonicfoundry.com i think
recording the mix
load it up and hit record, check your levels are coming through by clicking monitor in the pop up box. if they don't you need to go to your volume control and set the mixer to record, ensure line in is checked. and pressing the red button back in soundforge will start recording the mix. don't let the levels go over 0.0 dB or you'll get distortion.
the other stuff
now you have this huge wave file, you'll wanna get the best level possible. normalisation brings the volume up or down to whatever level is preset,in dB. do this by going to process then normalise. set it to peak level, and set the peak level on the left to 0.3 dB (that is the digital standard for cd's)
next comes the time & hard drive space consuming track splitting. i'm sure there is an easier way to do this but for now here's my way.
put the cursor on the part where you want the track to split, then press the letter m. this will drop a marker. keep doing that till you've got all the markers down where you want the tracks to start.
copy the first track by going to edit\copy or pressing ctrl+c.
no! do not paste!! there is another option called paste to new, keyboard shortcut is ctrl+e. what this does is paste the part of the wave file that you copied into a new wave file. you have your first track. keep doing that with every other section until you have all the tracks separate, burn them to cd

Your right Mouse, there is an easier way. Do as Mouse says and drop markers where you want the tracks splitting. also, drop a marker right at the beginning of the mix and one right at the end.
There is then an option in the edit menu (I think) called something along the lines of "convert markers to regions". Once you do this, each individual track will become a region. Then you can save regions as individual files (I think this is an option under the file menu.... if not its in the "Save As" dialog box.
Sorry about the vagueness of the menu locations, but the PC I'm on is my work PC and it doesn't have Sound Forge installed (yet). I'll check tonight though, and if I' wrong then I'll post up tomorrow.

Once you have the huge-ass WAV file ready to go, you've got a fair few choices when it comes to actually splitting and burning them. I use Acoustica MP3 for sheer ease of use but there is a good handful of programs out there that are very adequate for the task.
It had to be done.

I have a problem..
I'm using Cool Edit 2000 and whenever I do episodes for my show, and save them as 192 kbps, it cancels the 3 high levels.. I don't know why! I turn up Hi on my mixer and then found out it must be the program. Can anyone help me out? I can't tell if it's a rendering problem, or theres something screwed up in settings.

Try using protools or soundforge. I've been using protools and iz koo.

Comet, what format are you saving to? MP3? Have you tried other bandwidths to se if the problem occurs with these.
I take it that by the "3 high levels" you are talking about the EQ?
Also, have you tried saving it as a wav file? does this give the same problems. If so then it is probably a setting in Cool Edit, if not then maybe you could get a stand alone program to convert it to an mp3 and see if this gives better results.
sorry, I use Soundforge rather than Cool Edit, so I can't help on the settings in Cool Edit
