what u guys reccon . is the best for producing. would u get hardware sequencers \synths etc.. or would u use software counterparts? considwering every thing cost . portabilyty, as well as sound quality
personaly im using only software, (and a joystic) cheaper.. is the biggest facto9r.. but i also think they r extreamly good.

All Hardware can crash/go wrong.....Especially after being thrown around the room a lot when the song don't sound right .
But I've found the sotware at least a very good starting point....software's quality is improving a lot at the moment .

I use a mixture..... As far as sequencers go it HAS to be software as far as I'm concerned. So much power, and so easy to use (although a hardware sequencer is my only choice if playing live!!!). Samplers, I'm leaning more towards software these days as they are really advancing!! I love the EXS24 with Logic!! But again, if I was playing live I'd take a hardware sampler. However, synths I do prefer hardware.... dunno why, they somehow sound that little bit better, and I do like twiddling my knobs in the afternoon

You must be special .
Anyway yeah unfortunatly I have no experience oh "Hardware" really, but I have seen the software improve over the last 4 years by a huge amount .

Depends what sound you want too, theres loads of arguments for the analogue / digital debate, i like the EXS24 in logic cos it has some bazaar sounds but then again hardwere sounds better imo.

but with software you can create more complex melodies, for example when producing trance, with constantly goin up and down the scale so quickly, software is easier to use

It depends on what you want form the stynth. I use a mixture of both and see the benefits of both. you should never say Hardware or Software at anytime, because if you do then you are closing yourself off to something that you might have been able to learn. Hardware Synths sound good, nice and fat. I dont alsways look for that though and sometimes want a nice clean digital synth as i am writing pop, and it does not need analogue or warmth, just crispness.
I take that same moral through all my kit and other peoples kit. I dont ever write it off as I might find it useful further on down the line and i would be gutted to pass something up with out listening to it for myself first.
Always take the philosophy of if it works then it does not matter how you get it or what with. as long as it works and sounds right to you and to your listener.
