Right, I need some advice. I haven't looked at a new piece of DJ equipment since I put a pair of CDJ 800MK2's and a DJM400 way back in 2008. Now, I've still got those - but they're at my parents place, and I don't have room for a permanent set-up in my flat, really.
Sooo, was thinking of throwing a few hundred quid at an all in one kinda thing that I can use with my laptop.
Something like this:
http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/44/1992/34209/DDJ-SB/page.html It's one of the cheaper models. Just two hundred quid, I think. I really, really don't need anything fancy at all. I know this comes with an intro version of Serato, and you can buy the full version as well. But would this work with, say, Virtual DJ, as well?

Similar price to the one I'm looking at.
But, same question applies, are these things compatible with any kind of DJing software? Or only Serato?

Too late for you now, of course, but I have a Numark Omni Control.
The jog wheels are smaller then I'd like but it has a built in sound card which is very handy, and it's cheap as chips now, too. Compatible with everything I've tried it with.

Cheers lads! Not to worry. Think I'll be happy enough with what I went for.
I am prone to spontaneous purchases without properly researching. It's one of my best qualities.

Give us a review when it arrives. I'm considering a new controller sometime.

Yeah will do mate, no wozza.
It's getting delivered tomorrow! Might have an early review for you on Sunday, but I'll need to use it thoroughly before doing a proper review.
Any key things you're looking for?

I like on my controller how there are two outputs, so I can connect each channel to a separate line in on my external mixer - I've just seen that there is only one output on your new one. I don't know why but I've never liked using the volume and fader on the controller, maybe this new one feels better.
Also scratching is a pain in the arse, perhaps because of the tiny jogwheels, don't really think it was made for that sort of thing anyway. Thing is I like a good scratch!

you should have brought a vms4.1 https://www.decks.co.uk/products/dj-controllers/american-audio/vms41#.VPHG-MoX7yE and used this mapping http://traktorbible.com/freaks/mappingview.aspx?id=870 although there is a 4 deck mapping for the ddj-sb, but it has less buttons so its more hassle http://traktorbible.com/freaks/mappingview.aspx?id=871
