Hello citizens of happyhardcore.com!
I'm a long time reader, first time poster. I would appreciate some feedback on my latest track as it's my first real deep dive into not only production, but also engineering. I tried my best to keep it shiny. (It's a work in progress and still in the early stages)

By "keeping it shiny", are you refering to how it sounds mixdown-wise? If you are, my suggestion is to leave that 'til after you've finished the whole arrangement. Anyway... Good stuff! Would love to hear a finished version, too. :)

Hi and welcome to the forum :)
Just wanna point out, that's a good track, but it's not edgy enough to be classed as Freefrom (in my opinion atleast... if you ask all the regular ravers, they would class all non-hixxy/darren styles tracks as freeform).

Thanks for the positive feedback guys.
@DJ_funDaBounce I was talking about mixdown, yeah, as usually I end up having a muddy bottom end or overall it's just lacking polish and I ragequit because it ends up sounding flat or dead.
@Pulse89 I'll keep it in mind lol, thanks for the love.
@Samination Good call, I'll 'label' my track at the end of production.
Are there any suggestions mix-wise that I should be changing? I feel it sounds good, but I'm worried about the track not breathing so to speak. (Feel open and clear, like most [sic] (all) hardcore tracks.)

Have you tried Mastering your tracks? This is usually not an obvious procedure when just starting out with the engineering side of things.

Quite honestly, no, as I feel like mastering is outside of my ear capabilities at the moment but I'm interested in learning all I can. The internet is a great resource however I feel that mastering is more useful when taught and applied than just learning theory.

I mention it since what you describe, especially the lack of polish, is usually dealt with then.
dunno if you've seen these before:
https://www.izotope.com/en/support/support-resources/guides/ These helped me out a while back. Especially with the concepts of mastering and dithering.

For someone so inexperienced, the mix sounds pretty damn good to me!

Cheers! I've walked away from the track for a month due to work taking up a lot of time. Also frustration with my own lack of motivation.
Does anyone have any pointers, or is it simply at the point where it should get to mastering? I'm kind of lost lol.

I love the break and everything but I still think you could push more out of that (already pretty good) melody line. Also, I feel that bass is coming in a little too loud, maybe use some stereo imaging to push it outwards a little more? I need a break from the tracks I'm working on and would love to help if you needed it.
Also, don't move into mastering until your happy with absolutely everything.

The track sounds very nice indeed from a production and creative point of view, but somethings really not right and from a mix down or mastering perspective I can't quite get it.
My guess is that somehow you've exported the whole track with Mono Sound, rather than stereo. I say this because it sounds to my ear like the sound is identical on the left and right side.
