Hey im new to DJing, but my music library is huge, (about 200gb) across genres as different as possible, but primarily i want to play HHC/hardstyle and maybe throw in some punk and house.

I want to know what is the best setup for this genre so I am least restricted. I plan to do everything digital and even throw in my own loops from FL studio.

As far as Serato vs Ableton i can always try both and others, but when i comes to actual hardware i do not want a setup that is going to limit my creativity.

I appreciate all responses, I just need a place to start.

Thank You.

Hey there. even though I use traktor on turntables with a vestax battle mixer (i.e not as digital as could be for this day and age), I suggest you check this website out:

http://www.digitaldjtips.com/

it's not genre specific but I've found it to have very well written reviews and stuff.

I've used Traktor with S4 and I have no problem at all throwing in loops and being very creative.

For me there was definitely a learning curve, but once you are comfortable with the hardware/software, it is a lot of fun. I used to use a VCI-300 and that was limiting. Sure it also had cue points, but it only worked with two decks (though they did change this later with a sample interface but it was a bit clunky).

Traktor's interface is clean, easy, and getting 4 decks going is definitely do-able. I threw in a Midi Fighter with my setup and hot damn it is a lot of fun (though you can probably get another other midi controller). It's nice to have another controller you can program for what you specifically want to do. A controller that is small and compact.

You want to throw in your own loops. There is a mapping at the Midi Fighter website for just this. The top 4 buttons switch decks, the next 4 are play/stop/cue/fade out. The bottom 8 are all cue points. With 8 cue points you'll be slicing up that loop live in all sorts of crazy ways. It's a lot of fun.

I have not used Ableton however... so I can't compare it to Traktor.

Ignore my reply... -.- I meant to hit edit. I get Serato/Traktor confused.
