I first watched this in 2003 whilst @ collage due to my tutor Jon Da Silva appearing in the show and felt the need to let us all know lol. it explains the birth of House Music in some detail and how it helped form all the other genres of Dance Music we know today, there is a few clips of Shaun Ryder from the Happy Mondays explaining how they introduced house kicks and bass lines to indie and also Goldie about the birth of D&B.
it's quite an interesting video if you're in to this sort of stuff so I thought I'd share it.

Its a great documentary that, seen it a few times now.
I'd give anything to have been part of that early New York scene, what an era the 80's really was !
I agree mate it just seemed to be a lot more fun back then.
I'm fascinated with that era of music with how much groundbreaking stuff was going on, especially how they accidentally come across the Roland Drum Machine being able to do so much more than what was intended.
you might find Paul Okenfolds autobiography a decent read if you've not read it, quite a large chunk of the book tells you of when he was a youngster over there just as it all kicked off, some funny story's to say the least. :D
