Well, I don't think using SC links is killing the digest too much? loads a little slower - but for the amount of songs that are free each month that works out quite well I think.

I wish there was a better way to pull a "top 10"
Do you know...thinking about that - perhaps we should either
#1. Change the top 10 each month to be from a different download site
#2. Scrap it entirely and replace it with a DJs Choice Top 10 - each month I'll prod a random DJ to put together a top 10
#3. do both of the above
#4. macguyver one together using all the online charts and bits of string and sellotape
#5. do both #2 and #4
#5. change nothing.

I don't think thats a better idea, it's too inefficient and by the time the digest got published everyone would already know the top 10. (that's if there were even enough votes/submissions to get to 10 songs)...so there wouldn't be any point in posting it.
Then there is the arugments that would start up because one track wasn't included and another was...every producer will want to see his/her song on the top 10 etc etc - and then things start to get messy :P
You get a top 10 from a random DJ each month keeps both the element of surprise and keeps work to a minimum things are nice and cleancut with no arguments, but would give more variety than website trying to sell its wears.. ;)

must be a dj who doesnt already produce his own tracks and have a critic view over the lastest releases or else people will complain about it aswell.
maybe we should take another downloadsite's top10 then

Not many of them exist ;)
Since DJ mag and other review type things have been around it's generally expected that a DJ will include one or two of their own tracks if they produce - the reason people generally read them is because its a top 10 written by a top tier DJ.

Yeah, tricky one. No obvious, clean and reliable way to do it really. I would just leave it as it is, or get rid of it entirely.

Been lurking for years... wanted to say thanks. This site and posts like these make finding new tracks / keeping up-to-date much easier. It's time to post more and lurk less.
