Hi all.
I decided to see just how cheaply I could make a tune. My reasons for doing this are that I think people can be put off from producing as they think it's not possible without a spending a fair bit of money.
The finished product is called "Saxy Beast" and will be released at the CLSM store soon.
Equipment used.
1) Laptop (HP Pavillion...utter shite do not buy)
2) Sony Acid (can be picked up for 25.00)
3) No external speakers, just the built in laptop speaker.
4) vst's from TAL and Itchy (all free)
5) vocals were off a sample pack which cost 10.00
6) CLSM mastered the track for a sweet 10.00
Can anyone beat this.

don't forget to use the s1 piano, that's a freeware of the m1, :p

Actually there are some DAWs that are even free to use! :D
I forgot the name of one of them, but I believe it was kinda like Cubase.
Then you can always use ModPlug Tracker with VSTs, which is even free, and you can save also 25 quids :)

A friend of mine was showing me a tune he'd made using an app on his phone. Can't remember the app name but it sounded great.

I think its a great excercise to make a tune in this way. Kind of makes you realise what is possible for anyone with a bit of dedication these days. I tried to make a tune once only using freeware synyhs and fx but for some reason I never enjoyed it. I guess I always was a bit of a gear slut in my production days.
